Question From Guest on 96 Dodge Intrepid

Both steering rods have become disconnected from the rack & pinnion.

Response From Tom Greenleaf Top Rated Answer

BOTH FELL OUT OF RACK AND PINION? Tie rod ends are in there - both fall out at once suggests an accident or something!

01 Dodge Grand Caravan Sport, major vibration in the front end

Question From grissom1 on 01 Dodge Grand Caravan Sport, major vibration in the front end

I have a 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan Sport, 3.3L R eng., heavy vibration in the front end, checked the tires, wheel bearings, A arms, tie rod ends. Could the velocity joints in the front axels be causing this. Does not vibrate while accelerating, or coasting, just when you are starting to accelerate in the sweet spot.

Response From re-tired Top Rated Answer

You are not alone . read thru some of these google hits that i found.

Tierod won't come loose. 1989 Dodge Dynasty.

Question From Guest on Tierod won't come loose. 1989 Dodge Dynasty.

I've been having trouble trying to get my tie rod loose. Tie rod sockets are just not big enough to fit around my tierod, and thehe new one I bought fastens with a hexnut as well as other tie rods i've replaced in the past on other vehicles. However, this one doesn't seem to have one anywhere, and it doesn't seem to be coming off and I really don't feel like breaking off the piece it connects to and having to replace that as well because I'm missing something simple. If you could be of any help, I'd appreciate it.

depends on where ur trying to break it loos at at the nuckle just take a big hammer and hit it hard next to where it goes into the nuckle whole if it is at the raq u will need a special tool for that good luck

2001 Dodge Ram won't run under 2000rpm

Question From charger2001 on 2001 Dodge Ram won't run under 2000rpm

I have a 2001 Dodge ram 1500 4x4 v8 360cui It sat in my yard for a little while, because of a broken tie rod. It sat for about 7 months I just put a new tie rod on 2days ago. i changed the oil and spark plugs, cap, and wires. It started right up and ran for about 5 minutes and shut off. I started it again and started running real rough and shut off again. after a few more start ups, It refused to start. so I took one of the spark plugs out to see if it was getting a spark. I noticed the plug was wet with oil. Then i checked the oil and noticed the smell of gas present in the oil. Could the piston rings be worn, or are the cylinder heads shot

Response From Loren Champlain Sr Top Rated Answer

charger; It sounds as if the engine is severely over-fueling. Check all of your connections, firing order, ect. Make sure the CTS is plugged in. Check all vacuum lines. If the CTS was knocked loose, the system will go rich, by default. If you have a vacuum leak, the MAP sensor will see that as 'under acceleration' and go rich. Same with the fuel pressure regulator. You may have to remove and dry all of the plugs, then start over. Once the problem is found and corrected, you should change the oil again. How was this running prior to the broken tie rod? Do you have a CEL illuminated? See if you can retrieve any stored codes and post them.

Question From eyob07 on strring

hi everyone this is this is my 04 dodge caravan 3.3 when I hold and move the tire side ways there was a play after I replace the inner and outer tie rod and move the tire side ways, the play is still there. could this be the rack and pinion thank you.

Response From Tom Greenleaf Top Rated Answer

You need to check front end parts just so knowing where to push, pull, pry etc., to know what parts are worn or what might be what I'll call normal lash all the way back to locking steering wheel. Helps to have someone else help while you watch parts move.

If wheel is turned off of dead center there is some normal "play" in the pinion to rack when not pointing dead ahead on most by design as part of steering geometry. Varies vehicle to vehicle but still worn out parts are not acceptable so need to know. Are you even sure it needed both inner and outer tie rods ends and how many of four did you do? Why all if so if really worn surprises me,
