Anybody familiar with peugeot partner suspension i need to replace the bushes on the lower wishbone, the manual says
Slacken and remove the lower arm front
pivot bolt and nut. Recover the nut from its
housing if it is loose.
you can't actually get to the nut, to recover it, is it a captive nut?...

I would guess it is captive. Is the nut spinning, so you can't get the bolt out?

no the nuts not spinning haven't tried yet didn't want to start the job and balls it up, i'll have a go tomorrow.

Sometimes you don't know how things are till you actually do them. Sometimes service information can be vague. As long as it isn't a rust bucket, you shouldn't have any troubles getting the bolt out.

This car not sold where most of us are so can only relate basics I would expect. "wishbone" you called it and we might call that a lower control arm which does pivot on rubber and metal bushings + most problems IMO would be rubber is failing in the bushings.


Again, can't know what's available for the part or parts to fix this on this. Many of actually few encountered the entire lower control arm was available with bushings already installed (pressed in) and with a new lower ball joint close enough in price that it wasn't worth just doing bushings or finding out new ones didn't get a good grab being pressed in if done alone.


If good enough yourself and have the tools just check if bushings inner metal is barbed such that when you are close to the final tightening it is setting with vehicle weight on it. May not be anything like that. The reason is if lower arm/wishbone is fully extended DOWN the barbs have the rubber in no twist force there instead of with normal vehicle weight on them such that the "neutral" twist of the rubber is essentially centered such that is has equal twisting force if going up or down once done.


Check both sides unless you are sure if from plain wear the other may be along soon on front end parts and brakes too. I'll exclude if they were damaged by some other event and if those alone took the hit,
