Gas Smell inside 92 Saab

Question From Guest on Gas Smell inside 92 Saab

I have noticed a fairly strong gas odor inside my 1992 Saab 900 after a recent fill up. Any ideas as to what is causing it?

Response From carjunky

this could be from a number of things... for one let the car air out before driving it with the windows down, because it can be dangerous driving and inhaling the fulms...

Also the most likely cause for this was that the gas station has over filled your tank a little bit and that left over gas came into the truck compartment... has happened to myself a few times..

drive around for a few days and as the gas gets lower in the tank the order should disappear...

as with other possible causing I'm not sure.... does anyone else have any ideas?

Response From Tom Greenleaf

TAKE CARE OF THIS!! Could be rust or damaged fuel lines, tank and anything that carries fuel. It may be nothing but a bit too full and be fine.

If it hasn't stopped yet park it out doors if you have a garage. Be safe, T

It could need a new "gas fume accumulator" I can't think of the technical name but it looks like a coffee can and its basically a charcoal filter used to take the fumes out of the vacuum system.(or so it was explained to me) I had a similar issue in my saab I changed it & the fumes went away the same day. before you act on this thread see what the other s post in reply to it!!

heater problem

Question From rgod7771 on heater problem

My 1999 saab 95 is blowing cold air out on the drivers side, but the climate control on the passengers side heat is working fine.

Response From steve01832 Top Rated Answer

You may want to check the fuses and relays to see if the driver's side heater is on a different circuit than the passenger side. The owner's manual may shed some light on it but I would suggest getting a Saab repair manual. I would suggest Mitchell, Alldata, or get one directly from the Saab dealer. Mitchell and Alldata have online subscription and it costs about $30.00 per year. Short money for all the info you receive.

1997 Saab 900 random vibration noise at idle

Question From Guest on 1997 Saab 900 random vibration noise at idle

I own a 1997 Saab 900 SE Turbo. The car has a random vibration noise at idle only. While the event is happening there is no change in rpm's. Car is running at normal temp. The noise seems to go away as soon as I give the car some gas. Any thought or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

Here's a maybe: Bet it's some funky resonance in the exhaust system. Just grab the tail pipe with something so you don't get burned and it may quit for the moment right in front of you. If that silly trick works you can find the spot with the system cold and engine off with a rubber hammer most of the time

Response From Guest

The tail pipe does have a hole in it. Could that have something to do with it?

Response From Guest Top Rated Answer

The muffler I mean. Somewhere it has a hole in it.

Response From Tom Greenleaf

If a muffler has a hole from corrosion in particular it probably is full of debris that can make a variety of noises and losses precise back pressure for the engine which will be affected by that and that could produce asssorted symptoms,

Question From Saab9-5 on Trouble Idling Saab 9-5

Hi I own a 1999 Saab 9-5 and recently I have had trouble getting the car to stay running when it is idling positioned uphill. It also sometimes has trouble starting up. I have no Idea what kind of problem this is, does anyone have any advice?

Response From Hammer Time Top Rated Answer

If it only happens when facing up hill, I would look at the fuel level at the time and the fuel pump.
