Question From jbodzin on 84 Honda Accord Brakelight Problem

I have an 84 Honda Accord. All of a sudden my brake lights started staying on even when my car is off or my foot is not on the brake. My tail lights wont come on either. I checked the fuses and they are fine. Any ideas?

Response From gixxer6nick Top Rated Answer

I had that same problem with my 90 Accord it totally stumped me. The we checked the brake light switch on the pedal and definately, that was our problem. I think the nut is a 17mm.

Response From motorheadII

Check the brake light switch. (It's on the brake pedal) It may need an adjustment.

2 Brake lights out - Honda Civic

Question From Honda_Civic on 2 Brake lights out - Honda Civic

2005 Honda Civic. The single brake light up in the rear window is working fine. It's the two lower brake lights on the left and right that are not working. Both bulbs look fine. I even tested both bulbs with a 9 volt battery. They light up fine. My understanding is that there may be a blown fuse in the distribution center. But would there be a separate fuse for the two bottom 2 lights that are not on the same circuit as the top light in the window (that works)? I'm thinking that it should all be on the same circuit. But then I don't repair cars. Here's the map of the fuse box....

Response From Hammer Time

It appears that there are nothing but connectors separating those lights so it has to be a wiring or connection issue somewhere.

Response From Honda_Civic

Horn works and horn is on the same circuit, so must be a wiring or connection problem. If the top window light works and it is on the same circuit then the bad wire or connection must be somewhere near the BACK of the car. Would you agree? I would expect the top window light feed wire to meet the lower rear light wires somewhere in back.

You're assuming a lot that may or may not be true but take a look.

It's not a "hand brake", it's not an emergency brake....................... It's a Parking brake.

It is there to prevent the car from rolling when parked. That's all.

need advice brake warning light staying on, but brakes are good

Brake fluid must be kept in the safe zone indicated on the master cylinder. The parking brake can also make a brake light come on if the switch is faulty or it can't retract to off all the way,

Check for power and ground at the socket itself

Response From kilufas

The ground seems fine, How do i go about checking the power?

It turns on when I turn on the Headlights all the way up so power does reach it.
