2005 Ford Freestyle No turn signals or brake lights

Question From drunkandbroke on 2005 Ford Freestyle No turn signals or brake lights

I have a 2005 Ford Freestyle. The turn signals make a fast noise, like a short; but do not blink. The brake lights and hazard lights are out, too. I replaced the tail/brake/turn signal lamp and this didn't help. Any suggestions? Thanks

Response From way2old

What do the hazard lights do? If it is in the steering column, work the flasher button a few times. Let us know. A lot of times the turn signal switch will cause these problems.

Response From drunkandbroke Top Rated Answer

The hazard lights display on the instrument panel and are audible, but no display in the back

Response From way2old

If you have replaced the bulbs, all that is left is the turn signal switch or what they call a smart junction box low current board. All the lighting runs through this junction box.

Question From Legend545 on 04 Ford Mustang Turn Signals

Hi, I have a 2004 Ford Mustang. It is a V6, standard transmission. My turn signals are not working. I have replaced the bulbs, checked all the fuses, replaced the flasher relay and replaced the turn signal switch. I bought a used signal switch from a pick-a-part type place but everything works on it besides the turn signal, not thinking the switch is the problem, just want to be 100% transparent and thorough.
The hazards work and flash, the headlights work hi and low, the running lights work, the brake lights work. The turn signal switch physically holds it's place, up and down, as if it was working, but no lights come on and nothing happens.
Everything works across the board except the turn signal lights don't come on. No fast blinking or staying on, they just don't do anything.
I am completely lost as to what I should try next. Please help.

Response From Legend545

Well, I was waiting for a day off to check all those fuses and now my car won't start. I really don't think the problems are related, I think it's just my luck, but now I have to replace either the alternator, the solenoid or the starter, whichever it turns out to be before I can mess with the turn signal problem.

One weird thing before the starting problem: the last time I drove it the radio starting turning on and off by itself which I'm thinking might be related to the signal problem. I don't think the battery is dead because everything is getting ample power and it just clicks when I try to start it and nothing dies. Last time it was the battery in a different car it just froze up everything when I'd try to start it. I'm not sure what to do at this point, but I'm going to start with getting the battery tested, then getting it towed to somewhere I can pull out the starter and alternator and go from there. Once I get it started I can look at the turn signals again. I'm thinking I may need to replace the wiring harness.

Response From Hammer Time

Check all you cable connections and fusible links.

Response From Hammer Time

Check all the fuses you see in the diagram using a test light with the key on.

Response From Tom Greenleaf Top Rated Answer

Off the wall maybe: Put on your hazards and feel the flasher you replaced. If that one is ticking by touch it's not the one for the turn signals - easy mistake if not marked and might NOT be the one in a fuse/relay box?

Response From Hammer Time

No, they both use the same flasher.

Both rear turn signal lights blink at same time.

Question From Mrmagoo on Both rear turn signal lights blink at same time.

When I use Right or Left turn Signal both rear lights blink. They were working fine two weeks ago. Front signals work OK....
I have checked both bulbs and cleaned the bulb sockets with steel wool. They both look OK.
Any help is appreciated.

Response From Discretesignals Top Rated Answer

Somehow the rear turn signal circuits are crossed into each other. You should inspect the wiring for the rear turn signals.

Response From kev2

if applicable- check tow trailer harness, remove the rear bulbs 1 at a tine seeing if the issue corrects wen one is removed..

Response From Mrmagoo

Yeahhh!!! I checked the towing harness plug, and sure enough it was touching metal and grounded out.
All is well now. Thank You All a BUNCH for the help.....

Response From car1104

What happens when the emergency flasher is on? Does the truck have a flasher can for the turn signal and a second for the emergency flash? If they are the same can you swap the cans and see if the problem is one of the flash unit cans.

Response From Discretesignals

Bad flasher will either make turn signal lamps stay on or not work at all. They don't cause the front signals to work fine while the rear signals are both flashing at the same time when using the turn signals.

Question From homesflavor on turn signals

I Have a 91 ford mustang 5.0 GT.my problem cant locate the flasher unit for the turn signal(only).Turn signal switch dont work accept for wiper blades but not (signals).all bulbs are working, fues for turn signals is good, also all four ways lights blink.

Response From way2old

Look on the back side of the fuse box. There should be a flasher on the front of the fuse panel and one directly behind it. Not easily accessed, but not real hard.

Question From jessicaa on 1994 Ford Ranger Turn Signals??

I have a 1994 Ford Ranger V6 213XXXkm, and I just noticed that the turn signals arent working. I know its not the bulbs because the 4 ways work...I have no idea where to look, I know nothing about trucks But if you could tell me exactly what to do to fix it, hopefully its easy enough to do myself!

Thanks!

Response From dmac0923 Top Rated Answer

replace the multi-function switch on the steering column

Response From way2old

Try this first................

Both the turn signal flasher and the hazard warning flasher are mounted on the fuse panel on the truck. To gain access to the fuse panel, remove the cover from the lower edge of the instrument panel below the steering column. First remove the two fasteners from the lower edge of the cover. Then pull the cover downward until the spring clips disengage from the instrument panel.
The turn signal flasher unit is mounted on the front of the fuse panel, and the hazard warning flasher is mounted on the rear of the fuse panel.
