1990 Toyota Pickup O2 sensor wiring

Question From Reaperabb on 1990 Toyota Pickup O2 sensor wiring

I got a 1990 Toyota pickup 3.0L 4wd and I bought I bosch unversial oxygen sensor because the old one had all the wires off of it and it make the engine light come on. The wires on my truck and the wires on my sensor dont have the same colors, so i dont know what wires go where. I got a picture of the wires on the truck and on my new unversial sensor. Also i got a diagram of what the wires are , but i dont know what the letters mean on the picture where the sensor is. I called Bosch Toyota and no hope. So i'm kind of out on a limb here.

Sensor wires on the truck Black, Brown, Pink (Green stripe), and White (Red stripe). On the sensor Black is the signal wire, Gray is the signal ground and the two white are the heater circuit wires.

Response From Tom Greenleaf

I kinda suggest getting the correct one for this or you are just wasting money,

T

Response From Reaperabb

I cant carry it back now because i put it in the exhaust and had the truck running.

Response From Loren Champlain Sr

You can't carry it back? They really aren't that heavy.

Response From Reaperabb

lol no i mean i cant bring it back

Response From Loren Champlain Sr

Oh. LOL...Yes, the OE type uses the same color coding.

Response From Reaperabb

I might consider spending another $100 because i cant get this one to work! lol

Response From Loren Champlain Sr Top Rated Answer

Well, you could always put the old one on the coffee table and use it for a conversation piece? LOL.

Response From Loren Champlain Sr

I was going to suggest the same thing. The Bosch OE replacement sensors are about the same price as the universal Bosch units. We charge an additional .5 hrs. labor if we have to use one of the universal ones.

Response From Reaperabb

Do the the orginal have the same color wires?

Question From rascals on 1990 toyota pickup

my truck jumped time was able to adjust distributor and get it running but does this mean it's timing chain is about to break. and is it safe to drive without replacing the chain. it is a time chain if that makes any difference

Response From rascals

thank you both for help and advice on this matter i really appreciate it.

Response From Double J

if it jumped time it could be worn gear/gears or is it a timing belt driven...either way i would investigate what/why
etc....
i have seen guys years ago with chain/gear driven engines that would move all the spark plugs wires at the distributor cap in the direction of the rotor, usually one position back,to compensate for the timing and then it was easier to adjust distributor.....but in this case i would check ,especially ifs its belt driven....probably doesn't have long...
teeth on belt will shear off.....
if its gear driven, again need to check...not worth breaking down....cuz it nevers happens close to home, with me i
never have tow money with me and always ,i FORGOT MY PHONE......

Response From way2old Top Rated Answer

I dont think the chain is in any danger of breaking, but I am not sure if the gears have plastic covers on them or not. If the gears have plastic on them, the gears will break off more and more. I would replace the timing set soon. All it will do is keep getting worse, and as Jim N has stated, it will break down somewhere that is not convient to you. Good luck. Click here for directions on timing chain.

1990 Toyota Pickup Disconnected vaccuum tube - Where does it go?

Question From threedsnack on 1990 Toyota Pickup Disconnected vaccuum tube - Where does it go?

My 1990 Pickup I just got (22re motor I think?) has an idle surging issue, which will eventually kill the engine after about 3 minutes.

Found this tube that's not connected to anything. Where do you guys think it goes?

I checked online for the diagram showing where all the tubes go but still can't figure it out.

Please be specific as possible. I don't know anything about cars.

Any help would be amazing, thanks guys!

-Nate

Response From Discretesignals

You have the old 22r engine. Carbed.

I believe that vacuum hose plugs underneath the air cleaner housing. It goes to a thermo vacuum switch inside the air cleaner housing to operate the heated air cleaner vacuum motor. It probably came off when someone had the air cleaner housing off.

Response From threedsnack Top Rated Answer

Awesome! It was the Mixture Control Valve (MC Valve)
