Question From Hogleg95 on Headlights and Wipers Not working

wipers and headlights not working, but the rest of the lights work, park light, tail lights, turn signals, 4ways and fog lights all work.
When i try to turn on wipers the door locks actuate like they want to lock or unlock. and i hear a funny noise coming from dash.
when i turn on the headlights, all the lights come on except HI/LOW beams and they dont even flash when u pull on the hi beam switch. But the door locks do the same thing they do when i turn on my wipers.
I have already pulled the steering wheel and changed out the headlight/turn signal switch, and the wiper switch.checked all my connection but i still get the same thing, what am i missing, what else can i check or replace?
Somebody please help

ANyone have an answer or sugestion i should try next?

Response From Hammer Time Top Rated Answer

Most all of those things are controlled by the Body Control Module and they have a lot of problems with them. You aren't equipped to diagnose it properly though. It will require a factory scan tool and if a new module is needs, it would have to be programmed.

1989 Chevy S-10 pickup wiper/cruise control problems

Showing 3 out of 3 Posts
Question From buddyd49 on 1989 Chevy S-10 pickup wiper/cruise control problems

I have a 1989 Chevrolet S-10 Tahoe pickup, 4.3 v6, and I am having problems with the wiper control, and cruise control. This truck has the cruise/wiper/turn signal combo on the column mount control arm.The wipers will not shut off. They are coming on every 45 seconds or so, and the wiper control switch will not shut them off, when you turn the control arm (switch) you either get full speed, or the 45 sec intermittent speed (there does not appear to be any other setting contacts being made). I have to pull the fuse to stop them.

The cruise control does not function at all. The turn signals, and headlight dimmer/bright works.

I bought this truck even though it has this problem but I have never worked on these systems. I have purchased a new control (cruise/wiper switch control assembly), and a turn signal switch assembly. Am I on the right track?

Response From Hammer Time

No, I doubt you are on the right track. There should be a replaceable pulse circuit board on the motor that is responsible for parking and pulse control.

Response From buddyd49 Top Rated Answer

Thanks for the great info. I looked for a pulse circuit board online, found one for $22.00 and have it on order. I have been frustrated with this, and after researching this site, and receiving your reply, I am starting to feel better about solving this problem. Thanks again Hammer Time.

2002 Chevy Malibu turn signal works intermittently

Question From thisischris on 2002 Chevy Malibu turn signal works intermittently

I recently bought a used 2002 Chevy Malibu. Has a V6 3.1 Liter and around 123, 300 miles. And ever since I bought it a week ago I've noticed that the turn signals are unpredictable. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. All I know for sure is they work when I first start the car up. After doing some research, I decided to replace the turn signal switch, which also has the wiper switch connected. But it still is doing the same thing. So there must be something else going on. I did some more research and the one thing that keeps popping up in connection is the hazard switch. Some people suggested pushing the switch to fix the turn signal problem. And I've done that with mixed results. And after doing some more research I think the hazard switch might need to be replaced. I also found out that there was an investigation into this specific problem but no formal recall. So I don't know what the next step would be. Also the wipers only seem to work at one speed. I'm still learning about the car so I don't know if that's normal or not. They definitely work though. I will be taking the car to a local Chevy service center to have it serviced in relation to a recent recall that has to do with the ignition. So I thought about asking them when I take it in. But that isn't till Tuesday. So if someone out there can help I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

Response From Double J Top Rated Answer

Its probably the Hazard Switch.

GM issued a Special Policy Bulletin on these.
A Special Policy is not a recall tho.
Recalls permit the dealer to repair the vehicle regardless if the symptoms are present or not.

A Special Policy only permits the dealers to repair the vehicle if the concern is present. And it has limitations.
It basically extends the warranty on that said part for an extra amount of years or miles.
In this case, it was for 10 years or 150,000 miles, whichever occurs first.

Here is an excerpt from the SP with the Vin breaks and part numbers

Response From thisischris

Thanks so much for your help. Do you think when I take it to the service center on Tuesday I can get them to fix it even though it's not a recall issue? Or would I have to pay out of pocket?

Response From Double J

Doesn't hurt to ask but I doubt it being its way past the parameters of the warranty.
Its going to be out of pocket .

Pop one in yourself, aftermarket switches are inexpensive and relatively easy too install

Response From thisischris

Earlier this morning I ended up just getting a new switch and putting it in. But the thing now is that even though the hazard lights seem fine, the turn signal blinkers are blinking a little faster than they were before. But they didn't go out when I took it for a drive. And all the outside lights work fine. So I don't know if I need to worry or not.

Response From Double J

I would have to see it to tell if they are too fast now or were too slow before.

Best bet is either to compare them with a like vehicle or get an opinion from someone in the know, like at the repair facility, not the guy at the parts store.

Good thing is the work now

Response From thisischris

Thanks again guys. Really appreciate it. I talked to my roommate who knows about cars and has worked on them and he said that it's working fine. No problem. So I'll just keep an eye on it.

Response From Double J

Cool -Should be fine.

Response From Tom Greenleaf

Sounds like a success to me. Little faster than intermittent it's probably as they should be?

If all works and legal this is done,
