2004 Saab 9-3 Arc con vertible

Question From Guest on 2004 Saab 9-3 Arc con vertible

How do you replace the left headlight bulb? It is out and we are going to try to change it ourselves. It is the Xenon kind. Any help is appreciated.

Response From way2old

According to AlldataPro, you have to remove the radiator cover under the hood, remove the inner fender shield, disconnect the lower bumper cover, disconnect the headlamp housing and then remove the bulb. Seems like a lot to have to do to replace the bulb.

Honda or Toyota are very reliable. That's if they aren't all riced or ragged out.

Had two LOFs Civics in the shop today. One is a 99 Civic hatch manual that was clean as could be and running like it came off the show room floor. The other is an 89 Civic hatch 1.5L manual, no PS that is in amazing shape and well taken care of. It has over 250K on the odo. It seems when something does go wrong on them, it is usually easy to fix. They get good gas mileage and pretty much as reliable as you can get.

front "thumping" from a 2001 Saab 9-3

Question From 23paulbr on front "thumping" from a 2001 Saab 9-3

Hello,

I have a 2001 Saab 9-3 convertible.

The front end of the car is making a thumping noise that is speed and steering dependent. I thought I had a badly bent rim to give you an idea of the type of noise. Loudest from about 25 - 45 mph. Not nearly as noticeable above 65 mph. Less noisy when steering left, a little less noisy when steering right. Loudest when going straight ahead.

The mechanics have replaced both axle/CVs with no luck and they swear the wheel bearings are fine. When they have it on the rack, the differential (? the drivetrain box that the axle connects into) makes a grinding noise when they turn the wheels. No metal in the tranny fluid. The mechanic says we need to get a new tranny.

Does that sound right? The noise made by the differential seems a lot different than what I hear when the wheels are loaded and I am inside the car. Also, if the problem is in the drivetrain, is there something other than replace the entire tranny?

Thank in advance!

They can't conclusively know the bearings are good when listening to them unloaded.

You need to supply more information about the condition when things are not working.
Get a voltmeter and test for power on other fuses and fuse panels.
Is power out to the whole panel?
Look at the fuse panel discription and see what other acceessories are not working. For example, If the washer motor doesnt come on, does it share a fuse with the radio? Is it out too?
Do under hood panels have power?
Are you moving wiring harnesses around when inserting the fuse back in (may make and break an open conneciton)?
You may have a ground issue or feed to the fuse panel may be loose but without more info it will be hard to say.

Do some testing and take notes as you go, then report your findings
