The original equipment design Chrysler oil pump drive assembly (OPDA) on certain Jeep Wrangler TJ models with 4.0L six-cylinder engines tends to fail due to insufficient lubrication of the upper bushing, which causes the center shaft to seize. A malfunctioning OPDA can destroy the cam bearing and filters, and in extreme cases of wear or neglect, stop driving the oil pump.
