FULL oil filters

Question From bubbly on FULL oil filters

I recently bought three (3) FULL oil filters (OPH2835) for my 1996 4 cylinder Dodge Grand Caravan. Not being familiar with FULL oil filters does anyone have any thoughts on these filters.?

Response From Tom Greenleaf

What! I know I've been in a cave for too long but do you mean they are full of oil? If so, I don't like that. What kind of oil if so and some applications on assorted vehicles/engines that would just spill most out to put it on if so. Not familiar with this but want to know myself,

Response From bubbly

The question I posed was does anyone familiar with the FULL brand of filters made in Thailand have any thouhts?

Response From Tom Greenleaf Top Rated Answer

OK: I just haven't run across that brand name. The way the world seems to work is companies will buy from the lowest bid which scared me. I've been a believer in Wix which is also NAPA Gold series and they cost lots more and now will look and see when in shop next where they are made.

See what the others say but I'd take them back,

1998 dodge caravan oil pressure light comes on

Question From sharma on 1998 dodge caravan oil pressure light comes on

1998 dodge caravan, 3.3 litter engine. oil pressure light comes on while the vehicle is stopped.

Response From nickwarner Top Rated Answer

check with a gauge to make sure your oil pressure is within spec. If it is, replace the pressure switch. It is screwed into the block next to the oil filter housing

06 dodge stratus knocks and misses

Question From dodge1036 on 06 dodge stratus knocks and misses

2006 dodge stratus 4 cylinder with dohc 140k
oil leaked out of car around oil filter replaced filter and changed oil now car knocks and misses knocking intensifies when you push the accelerator

Response From Tom Greenleaf

Is it still leaking? Oil proper type and properly full? Any Warning lights?

Oil leak probably wasn't oil filter itself but may have been made worse by changing it. Any traces of oil above it leaking down?

Don't wait as if this is lack of oil pressure for any reason you will be lack of engine!

TOOK OUT YOUR OTHER TWO IDENTICAL POSTS - one is enough please as it confuses everything if responded to..........

Response From dodge1036 Top Rated Answer

sorry about the double post, anyways yes oil is proper type and full, there are no signs of it still having the leak and no lights on but there was oil on the top of the motor when we noticed the problem not sure where that could be coming from the noise my motor puts off sound somewhat like a bolt or something bouncing around in the motor

Response From Tom Greenleaf

OK - Oil leak could be many things, even just a bad oil cap but the miss and noise is critical. This engine could have a problem with the timing belt and is listed as an interference engine which means if is slips from worn teeth or any reason just a tooth wouldn't run right and much more or breaking would almost certain cause severe damage to the engine.

Highest mile suggestion was to do it as routine by 100K and might be one that suggests every 60K or you are rolling the dice.

At 140K now not if but when was it done last? Not sure how the oil leak is involved or directly related but that belt could cause noise and missing as you said and must be ruled out and known right,

Location of oil pressure sender 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 5.9L Diesel

Question From bowldidley on Location of oil pressure sender 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 5.9L Diesel

Could someone please give me the location of the oil pressure sender on a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 5.9L Cummins Turbo Diesel. Having Trouble locating it and think it's the problem. Gauge reads 0 oil pressure - changed oil - started it up and shut it down - checked oil filter - plenty of oil getting to the filter. Am I on the right track and if so need to know where to locate
the sender>

Please

Response From Tom Greenleaf

I shouldn't have even replied to this as I'm not sure but this looks real important so I'll suggest some places. The sender switch is probably located near the oil filter and may require a special tool to remove it. If a single wire it would likely be that the switch post is direct ground or dead open with engine off and is like a resistor as oil pressure builds up. Works kind of like a dimmer switch.

I think it would be more likely that wiring is pulled apart, broken or chaffed somewhere. If multiple wires use all caution as then it could be a direct line of info for the computer. As early as 1970 some cars shut the engine down if the switch was broken or read zero pressure,

Response From bowldidley

Tom,

Just wanted to say thankyou very much for responding. Yes, this is very
important. I recently got divorced and I am on my own. I am fair at some
mechanics but I don't know this diesel very good. Trying to learn. I have
looked and looked but because I can't find a picture of this sender I kinda
am lost. So thankyou for your response. It is very much appreciated, more than you know.

Engine won't start after oil problem

Showing 2 out of 2 Posts
Question From n8tvduck on Engine won't start after oil problem

2004 Dodge stratus. Hit a rock and oil ran out, before could get off logging road the car froze up. Fixed oil filter and added oil, but car will not start. The battery is good and has clicking sound and spark.

Response From way2old Top Rated Answer

As a guess, I would say the engine is locked up and you will neeed another engine or have that one completely rebuilt.
