oil and fluid change question for Nissan Murano

Showing 4 out of 4 Posts
Question From aaliyoda on oil and fluid change question for Nissan Murano

My uncle took a Nissan Murano AWD 07 to Europe and the mechanics there aren't sure what fluids and oil they should use. The car has 31k miles, should the trans fluid and differential (whatever that is?) be changed already? And what types of oil and fluids should be used? Thanks for any help!!

Response From Tom Greenleaf Top Rated Answer

The owner's manual should spell this out pretty clearly. At a minumum if all is confused check the levels and if they in whatever country can't advise on what specs meet what then find a Nissan dealer there. TMK the brand is sold almost everywhere - where are you talking about?

Response From aaliyoda

Thanks!! Its in Poland, and they seem to be clueless! That's why we want to make sure so that they don't mess anything up beyond repair.

Response From Tom Greenleaf

Nissan sells vehicles in Poland. If language is a barrier where the vehicle is being taken then get it translated or get an owner's manual for it in the language of choice which lists the suggested fluid specs for that vehicle....

Nissan Murano 05 - Exhaust Repair Question

Question From manncura on Nissan Murano 05 - Exhaust Repair Question

Here is a link to pictures of the problem with the exhaust on my Nissan Murano 2005.
https://picasaweb.google.com/manncura/Muffler?authuser=0&authkey=Gv1sRgCLbX877-3N_ydg&feat=directlink

Basically the pipe just behind the resonator has disconnected / or broken away from the rest of the exhaust system right at the clamp that connects them. There is some rusting throughout the system and looks to be the cause of the problem (as I assume most exhaust systems of 6 years might have?)

Just trying to get a feel for what needs to repaired in this instance. I don't really have a trusted mechanic yet where I live, so I just want to have a handle on what everything entails before going to a shop.

Can the pipe simply be reconnected since it happened at the clamp joint or will the resonator have to be replaced?

Is this something you could do at home? Or best to be done by a mechanic?

Thanks so much for your help and please let me know if you need any further information.

Response From Hammer Time

You just need to replace the component. The pipe was rotten enough to break off, it just need to be replaced. It looks like it's part of the muffler. take it to an exhaust shop and get it evaluated.

Response From Discretesignals Top Rated Answer

You have two options. If the metal around the flange isn't eaten all the way through, you can weld the pipe back onto the flange.

If the pipe and flange aren't weldable, you can replace that component. I am not sure, but in your picture it looks like the pipe that broke off the flange goes to the muffler. Can't tell because the picture is too close up.

2006 NISSAN MURANO power steering noise.

Question From maxauto on 2006 NISSAN MURANO power steering noise.

2006 NISSAN MURANO AWD 3.5 125000km.

Power steering noise on turns. Happens when steering left or right. Strut mounts, struts, ball joint and tie rod were checked and seem fine. U-joints between the steering column and the rack are OK.

Power steering pump and ruck/pinion were changed with ABSOLUTELY NO RESULT.

What could be the reason?

Any help greatly appreciated!
Thank you.

Response From Sidom Top Rated Answer

To give an accurate answer I would have to hear the noise...

One suggestion would be to check all the idler pulleys & other accessories.

Using the p/s puts enough of a strain on the system that bearing going bad in other areas can actually get louder....

2006 Nissan Murano - "pinging"

Showing 2 out of 2 Posts
Question From NissanMur on 2006 Nissan Murano - "pinging"

I purchased a 2006 Nissan Murano (3.5 litre v6) from Japan and had it shipped to my current country of residence (Myanmar). The vehicle has 74k kilometers and is generally a great car. One month into ownership, I noticed a pinging (or knocking) coming from the engine when accelerating. If I cruise evenly and slowly up to the speed limit, there is no pinging.
To begin my remedy of the pinging, I started with adding a 92 octane fuel. The pinging remained. Next, I changed the oil and oil filter. Still pinging. Next, I upgraded to 95 octane fuel (available here in Myanmar). Pinging seemed to become less, but still audible. Just today, I changed some rather burnt spark plugs to new ones. The pinging remains. The mechanic suggested I replace the spark plug caps because of the burning, which I may do.
Question: am I going through this diagnosis correctly? Is there anything I am missing? I need some sound advice and would appreciate any.

Response From Discretesignals Top Rated Answer

Check engine light on? If so, what trouble code numbers are stored?

Check the operation of the EGR system
Check the operation of the knock sensor
Make sure the correct spark plugs are installed:

TURN SIGNALS

Question From BANJO777 on TURN SIGNALS

MY TURN SIGNALS DON'T WORK ON MY 2005 NISSAN MURANO, SL. ALL 4!! I'M TOLD THERE IS NO FLASHER (PART) FOR THIS CAR. HELP!

Response From Sidom

This system uses the BCM (body contol module) for turn signal operations. It receives a signal from the combination switch and then supplies power to the appropriate circuits. The weak link is the combination switch but the powers, grounds & circuits should be tested to verify that 1st.

Response From BANJO777 Top Rated Answer

Thank you,
Is the "combination switch" a part I can easily locate and replace? Gary.

Response From bruceglaser

THERE HAS TO BE A FLASHER OR A TURN SIGNAL RELAY, FIND THAT AND YOU WILL SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM, USUALLY THEY ARE FOUND IN THE FUSE BOX, EITHER UNDER THE DASH OR UNDER THE HOOD. GOOD LUCK.

Response From BANJO777

Thanks for your response, I will check it out! Gary.
