How much will this repair cost be?

Question From tycampbell on How much will this repair cost be?

I'm thinking of buying a totaled Nissan 370Z 2009. I already calculated the cost of the cosmetic damage now I just don't know what these things are on the engine. I'm not a big car guy lol. I would love some help though and insite. I have a buddy of mine who can get me someone to put the parts on cheap. link deleted ........................ not allowed

Response From Hammer Time

Copart is a salvage auction for insurance companies. That means this vehicle was an insured total loss so you can bet there is damage that you are not aware of.

Response From Tom Greenleaf Top Rated Answer

Didn't see that link HT just the pic? OP - Any idea of how much to fix this is a wild guess. If air bags were deployed there goes a ton more.

HT just said it was "salvaged" as a fixable wreck which is fine to a point. Also look up what that does to the value even when fixed - ruins it.
Around me a couple "junk yards" will sell these cheap and provide all parts cheap too. Mostly body shops will think about taking one on if slow to keep busy and just break even.

I'd go as far as saying not buying this at all just for the silly problems likely to happen for months or more after a wreck,

Response From Hammer Time

I didn't say it was being sold as fixable. It was totaled. It's being sold as salvage meaning parts.

Response From Tom Greenleaf

Right. "Fixable" is in the eye of the beholder and AYOR. Car will have VIN pulled if being put on road again forever marked and titles as a fixed wreck or "salvage" title.
Insurance bought this based on estimate to fix, minus a ruin history for what parts are likely worth was cheaper than fixing it for the person who had the accident.

For all we know it was a salvage car already making it just parts again even faster? Avoid this stuff. There are enough vehicles with good histories out there you just pay the price for them,

Response From Tom Greenleaf

See if I can make your pic show directly.....

This shows a bent radiator support I'll call it. New parts alone probably wont fit, some may require welding in and body straightened. That may break radiator, break A/C condenser and other assorted parts when straightened.

Bumper and filler gone but support may be fine.

Can't quote an accurate guess but would say at full costs the damage could be $3,000US or so. Unseen damages or not could change that a lot.

Get an estimate for your area from a real body repair shop or if you are insured use it. IMO not an easy DIY fix and will require painting at least bumper skin. Most DIY paint looks like crap if you cared so costs.

Can't do collision estimates with pics alone only a general guess and there's a lot to do there,
