Question From jamatthews1681 on Set timing on '01 Mitsubishi Montero Sport 6G72

Does anyone know the correct procedure for setting the timing on a 2001 Mitsubishi Montero Sport? My friend and I just finished installing a replacement engine (6G72) in my 2001 Mitsubishi Montero Sport and it cranks, but the timing is off. Not a 4x4.

Please help.

Response From Indytech Top Rated Answer

Check you timing belt these trucks have problem after 80.000 miles with the belts
I;ve notice that if they are not changed at 50.000 to 60.000 miles they get pretty lose
there is no timing to set, as its PCM controlled.

Question From texaskreek06 on 01 Mitsubishi Montero Sport Code Reset?

I have a 2001 Mitsubishi Montero Sport that has the service engine soon light on. I do not own a manual for this vehicle so I have no idea how to reset it. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Response From way2old Top Rated Answer

The mlight is on to alert you that there is a problem with the emission system. Go to a major parts house and they generally read the codes for mfree. Please post the EXACT code number back here and we can help you. We will be waiting.

2002 Mitsubishi Montero stalls at idle

Question From monti1342 on 2002 Mitsubishi Montero stalls at idle

2002 mitsubishi montero sport 3.0 with 123,000 miles. Just started happening today, it was after i changed my battery, but i am not sure how that figures in. Drives fine, but when I stop (i.e. stoplight, parking, etc.) the rpm's get lower then just dies out. Unfortunately I have not been able to locate a manual for it otherwise i would have started with the fuel filter, and maybe i'm blind, but i can't locate it. Anything would help right now.

Thanks
Monti

Response From Loren Champlain Sr Top Rated Answer

monti; It is very common for the computer to lose KAM (keep alive memory) when the battery takes a dump. An extended drive cycle should bring it back to normal.

Question From hmulasmajic on mitsubishi montero 2001

When my car is cold everything is normal. After like 10 minutes when car heats up and I need to make a turn the car starts to shake and it looks like the 4 wheel drive gets locked. Does anyone know what the problem is?

Response From Discretesignals

Is the check engine light on or are there any trouble codes stored? How are the fluid levels and conditions? You may need to swing into a shop and have them take it for a drive.

Response From hmulasmajic

No check engine light is on and there is no trouble codes stored. Transmission power steering and engine fluids are normal. Is there any other fluids that can make this problem that I can check?

Response From kev2 Top Rated Answer

did you scan - or thinking is no light no problem? SCAN be sure to use a capable scanner ALL codes.

Anything NEW - parts or maintenance ? anything

I am somewhat confused- starts fine, runs good, restarts ok - BUT only when making a turn does it buck and stumble?
