Question From GC on 2011 Kia Rio5 1.6l tbelt
2011 Kia Rio5 1.6l timing belt. Never done one. Anything I should know going in? Not sure about special tools or any tricky spots.
Response From GC
Got it done. About 3.5 hrs taking it slow. Only one camshaft sprocket driven by belt so no dohc cam lock needed. All the cvvt stuff must be on the other end of the camshafts where a chain connects them. Only a couple minor hangups- getting tbelt tensioner pulley and spring back on is tricky. I ended up starting the spring bolt first, then working the spring on its stops with a long screwdriver. Also, putting double pulley back on water pump that has limited clearance while trying to line up two separate pulleys and get a bolt started in water pump flange. All in all, not too bad.
Response From GC
Thanks. Dont have data on this. I have done tbelts on kia 1.8l, im assuming very similar setup. Ill post back with any surprises.
Response From Hammer Time
Bring it up on #1 before taking the covers off and then mark that point after taking the cover off.
Don't disregard those warnings about rotating the motor with the belt off or you will be bending some valves.

Don't have the procedure available to me, but it books at 3.2 hours if you have AC, 3 hours flat without it. I'd use a Gates kit on it, Gates PN for that one is TCK282. Big thing to remember is to keep anything from moving when the belt is off. This is an interference engine and you will have damage if the crank gets turned out of synch with the cams. A DOHC cam clamp tool would be useful to have.

Question From andyroxxx on 2007 Kia Rio 5 Passenger side mirror
Hi. I was wondering if anyone can help me. I have a 2007 Kia Rio 5 Sx. I need to replace the passenger side mirror. Something hit my car and just the glass is gone. The case is still intact. I have no idea what to do. I tried to look online for parts, but I couldnt find anything. I really dont want to pay dealer prices.
I should have been born a boy. I hate dealing with this stuff...LOL
Thank you!!! :)
Response From Hammer Time
I'm afraid the dealer is going to likely be your only option. There are some aftermarket companies that make replacement mirrors but the only ones I know of are wholesale to repair shops only.
Some manufacturers sell a replacement glass only and some are sold only as a complete mirror. Also some have to be painted first. The only way to find out is just call the dealer with your VIN# and tell will tell you your options.
Response From way2old
Clicky clicky This site has just the glass portion of the mirror.

Question From boonetampabay on 2010 Kia Rio5 misfire
I have a 2010 Kia Rio5 1.6L 83000 miles.
My Kia Rio5 has popped up three codes.
P0300
P0302
P0301
The car is running very rough but i put in gas and it made me not move. My car stalled and I was stranded. I then turned my ignition and my car started but stalled again. I then turned it again and gave it some gas and was not moving very fast maybe 2 MPH. I got home but after I let off the gas it stalled. I cleaned the Mass Air Filter with the spray but it is still giving off the same codes. I need to know what to do.
Response From Discretesignals
Those are misfire codes. Misfires will cause loss of power and a rough running engine. Did all these problems start right after you filled up the fuel tank?
Response From boonetampabay
They have been there but when i filled up this morning it just started very bad. it was there then i replaced my spark plugs and coils then it was still there. but it stalled after i put in gas
Response From Discretesignals
There are some things you need to figure out. First you need to find out which cylinders are misfiring, but the engine has to be running to do this.
The misfiring could be caused from an ignition, fueling, or mechanical problem in those cylinders that are missing. There are tests you can do to figure that out, but if you have no experience in diagnosing misfire issues or don't know how particular systems function, your going to have a really tough time figuring it out.
You may need to have it towed to your repair shop that has the equipment and trained techs that can determine the cause and fix.
Response From boonetampabay
i was wondering if i should get a compressor tester and check the pressure in my engine. I also have no idea where to find out where my fuel filter is for my car
Response From Discretesignals☆☆☆☆☆Top Rated Answer
You can do a compression test. You have to disable the ignition and fuel. The throttle has to be open and the battery has to be fully charged.
Fuel filter is part of the fuel pump assembly in the fuel tank.
