2002 kia optima fuel filter

Question From shounda on 2002 kia optima fuel filter

Good Morning!
Does anybody know where the fuel filter is on a 2002 Kia Optima 4 cylinder with an overhead cam? The car is acting as if it's not getting enough fuel.

Response From way2old Top Rated Answer

The fuel filter is located underneath the chassis on the left hand side of the fuel tank. Look under drivers side close to fuel tank. You will see a small cannister there.

High Pitch Squeal at start up -'04 Kia Optima 4cyl.

Question From Guest on High Pitch Squeal at start up -'04 Kia Optima 4cyl.

My '04 Kia Optima makes a high pitch squeal (perhaps from the power steering pump) at start up. The sound goes away after about 5-20 seconds and doesn't come back in normal driving. Any thoughts?

Response From Tom Greenleaf

Possibly just needs a new belt. Check that tension is proper. In that it goes away the belt itself is a likely problem,

Response From sjessen Top Rated Answer

Hello Tom,
Thanks for the reply.
The belt is new and the high pressure hose was just replaced as well.
The belt seems to be adjusted okay... Is it time to replace the pump? 60K

Response From Tom Greenleaf

Life expenctancy of the assessorie pulleys and pumps is chiefly unknown. By main pressure hose do you mean the upper radiator hose? Did it blow out or leak on you? If so the anti-freeze may have caused a stickyness or something on the belt new or not some will make noise.

Try sparying some WD-40 on the belt grooves before you start up and would expect the squeal. If it stays quiet I'm blaming the belt. They aren't all created equal and some are just noisy. Various aftermarket belts are sold as "quiet" belts - ask for that or an original.

If no change try taking if off and spin the pulleys and feel for something wrong. Might be tricky because you said it went away.

You should make certain fluids are properly filled and if you really suspect the PS pump I'd suggest changing its fluid first,

Kia Optima will not engage in park all the way

Question From kjb3270 on Kia Optima will not engage in park all the way

I have a 2008 Kia Optima 2.4L 4 cylinder. This morning I drove it and when I stopped at my destination the car would not go into park all the way. It is in park but not all the way. I am not able to turn the key off from ACC and remove the key. Any thoughts on what could cause this

Response From Discretesignals Top Rated Answer

Appears you have a shifter or linkage problem keeping the shifter from going all the way into park. If the lever isn't fully in park, the park lock system will prevent you from removing the key from the ignition. Your going to have to inspect the shifter assembly and cables to see why the lever isn't fully engaging park.

Response From Discretesignals

Kia also had a recall on the shift cable. Recall number SC 088. You might want to be sure that recall was performed.

Response From Discretesignals

You should check with the dealer first to be sure that recall isn't open still. If it was performed, you'll have to call around and get some prices for checking it out.

Response From kjb3270

Thank you for your input. Do you have an idea how much it would cost to have someone look at and fix that?

2008 Kia Optima Tail Lights blowing fuses

Question From ekim on 2008 Kia Optima Tail Lights blowing fuses

2008 Kia Optima 4 cyl 140000 miles
The drivers side tail light went out. Brake Lights and backup lights work fine
Replaced bulbs just to be sure
10 amp fuse in drivers compartment is blowing
Unclipped the driver side clip at the tail light and the fuse does not blow
Replaced the wiring connector from the clip to the bulb - fuse still blows
Inspected the wiring in the trunk area and cannot find worn, frayed, or damaged wires
I am lost about where to go next.

Response From Hammer Time

What kind of clip are you referring to?

Response From ekim

When I say pin, I am referring to the multi wire connector where each wiring harness is joined.

Response From Hammer Time Top Rated Answer

And where is this connector?

Response From ekim

It is in the trunk next to the left tail light. The replacement part was approximately 10 inches long and included the two light sockets and bulbs.

Response From Hammer Time

The fuse not blowing when that's disconnected proved the short is after that point. If i understand you correctly, you have replaced this section of harness and the short is still there.

I would try disconnecting it at the bulbs if there is a connector and if not, remove all the bulbs.
Don't overlook the tag light and any side markers.

brake lights dont work 2002 kia optima

Question From daniel garcia on brake lights dont work 2002 kia optima

i bought a 2002 kia optima and the brake lights dont work. It's not the brakelight/cruse control switch. The cruse control still works. It"s also not the light bulbs. I cannot find a fuse for brake light. I dont know what else to try. PLEASE help me

Response From Hammer Time Top Rated Answer

You can't rule out the switch or the fuse until you have verified power into the switch and back out when the brake is applied.

Response From Tom Greenleaf

Just how have you ruled out a brake light (stop light) switch other than that the cruise control still works? Power in and goes out thru a switch. Does "high mount" or third brake light work? Bulbs known good?

Fuse? Check owner's manual for what it uses. Quick look this could have features that change how it's all controlled,
