Hello, I noticed my corsa c 1.0 2003 wasn't able to tick over without stalling and after a quick look at the engine, I found all 5 intake manifold bolts have snapped. I have spend a few hours now looking for these bolts and have no clue what they are called or where to find them. I've been to scrap yards, and shops and have ran out of places to go. If anyone knows the names of these bolts or where to buy them please could you let me know.

If they were holding the intake manifold to the cylinder head, they would be called intake manifold mounting bolts. Have you attempted the Vauxhall dealer?

Yes - just saw a plastic one cracked. Wasn't my job but looking at the crack it didn't look like any patching was going to last well. Big buck item too dammit!

Intake manifold cracks are common. I believe Dorman manufactures an aftermarket replacement for this engine because it is so common. Plastic is a terrible choice of manufacturing material for an intake manifold.

Sure is expensive. 250.00 for the manifold, plus labor of about 300.00. Will also have the water hose's replaced & belt. Looking at about 700.00 all togather.

yea they have a coolant hose/tube under the intake. thats probably what your leak is coming from

Hi--would a mechanic need to drain the radiator on a 02 hyundai elentra in order to replace the intake manifold gasket? I had the gasket replaced and 4 days later the car overheated due to no fluid in radiator--thanks

It's not mentioned in the instructions but he may have drained it if one of the hoses was in his way.
I would have it pressure tested for leaks and if you find none, then he likely left it low.

ok thanks--although, i think its too late for pressure test-the top of radiator melted---the guage that warns the driver inside the vehicle was already not working so by the time my wife realized the car was overheating, there was already white smoke and slightly melted top to radiator--i am fearing serious damage to aluminum components such as head, etc, etc-----does that sound right? thanks for your time

Yep, your looking at a blown head gasket at the very least.
I wouldn't be looking for anyone else to blame if you were knowingly driving that around with no temp gauge,especially if your wife was driving it.

it has about 160,000 miles with nice body, interior, suspension, etc.---what is your advice on purchasing used heads from craigs list? (if it needs it of course--my mechanic will not be in until tommorow to look at it)--i found one from an 03 elentra for 100 bucks--what do i look for when i go get it? thanks

If it got as hot as you described and has that many miles on it, I wouldn't even consider trying to repair that engine. A used engine would be the cheapest way out and you's still be looking at over $1000 for a job like that.

Yes, it is possible and one reason would be it was installed wrong. Could it just be burning off okd oil, gasket scrapings, etc?

The car had an external coolant leak. Was told it was the intake manifold gasket. Had it replaced, also replaced the thermostat, flushed coolant and changed oil (the works!). I saw a small puddle under the car this evening and am worried that it is still leaking.

If the drip continues, take it back to the people that repaired it and request a cooling system pressure test. Do not drive this if overheating.

More or less what Tom said: torque the bolts to 25 foot pounds and here’s a diagram of the tightening sequence.

Not much info here:

In general if only a gasket needed you take out the manifold and clean up both surfaces and put it back in but with torque and sequence to specs. I don't have them but you start retorquing from the middle and work your way out.

You could guess and it probably would work but I really suggest doing it right, T
