Honda Civic
2000
Dx Coupe

Hows it goin.. i got into an accident a couple a months ago.. insuraance, but only liability..

i have a very limited knowledge of cars.... i just wanted to know if you could tell from the picrtures what parts under the hood seem to be damaged and if there looks to be a lot of damage to the engine..

btw about a week after the accident i started the car and it started up fine... yesterday i tried to start it and it cut on for a second then cut off,.. so i tried again and it wouldnt cut on.. do any of you know what that means ?

perhaps you cant tell me anything from the pictures but i thought i would give it a shot..
thanks..

2 Brake lights out - Honda Civic

Showing 3 out of 4 Posts | Show 1 Hidden Posts
Question From Honda_Civic on 2 Brake lights out - Honda Civic

2005 Honda Civic. The single brake light up in the rear window is working fine. It's the two lower brake lights on the left and right that are not working. Both bulbs look fine. I even tested both bulbs with a 9 volt battery. They light up fine. My understanding is that there may be a blown fuse in the distribution center. But would there be a separate fuse for the two bottom 2 lights that are not on the same circuit as the top light in the window (that works)? I'm thinking that it should all be on the same circuit. But then I don't repair cars. Here's the map of the fuse box....

Response From Hammer Time

It appears that there are nothing but connectors separating those lights so it has to be a wiring or connection issue somewhere.

Response From Honda_Civic

Horn works and horn is on the same circuit, so must be a wiring or connection problem. If the top window light works and it is on the same circuit then the bad wire or connection must be somewhere near the BACK of the car. Would you agree? I would expect the top window light feed wire to meet the lower rear light wires somewhere in back.

You're assuming a lot that may or may not be true but take a look.

White smoke from Steering column in 2001 Honda Civic

Question From iyrrj on White smoke from Steering column in 2001 Honda Civic

Hi

I have a 2001 Honda Civic. It is manual transmission and has 113 K miles on it. Recently, it has been very hot here and on a couple of occasions when I have driven the vehicle for more than 20 min or I see white smoke coming out of the steering column. Also, it smells like plastic burning. I was worried about this so I oppened the plastic covering and found that plastic on some part ( I guess electrical part) was burning (http://picasaweb.google.com/raja.iyer/Honda?feat=directlink) . I am kind of worried about the airbag as well. I am not sure if that is the only part which was responsible for the white smoke. Any ideas what I should be doing.

Also, I have seen the front headlights behave oddly. Occasionally I see that the only the right or only the left OR both lights work. I dont know if there is any pattern at all. Is this a safety concern ? An
y ideas ?

Thanks
Raja

Response From Double J

Check with your Honda Dealer.

They have a recall on this
Call them with your VIN Number (vehicle identification number) to see if yours falls under the recall.

Response From Tom Greenleaf Top Rated Answer

See if that will show direct.....May not?? Either way - that plug is heat stressed from inside itself shorted or with headlights acting up is for headlights thru the column switch. A short exists somewhere no doubt. I would consider this a safety issue. Air bag can make dust but not onging smoke and generally would have to have been deployed and I think you'd notice that! May take some wire chasing looking for shorts or wires rubbing bare to each other or ground, T

1994 Honda Civic

Question From jtwilley56 on 1994 Honda Civic

I need to remove the oil pump on a 1994 Honda Civic. I'm sure if the nut on the main pully that turns the belts are a left or right hand thread. Can anyone help?

Jim

Response From DanD

It’s right hand thread and at times can be very tight to loosen. An impact gun is usually enough to get it to move but at times you need to use a breaker bar or a long handled ratchet and a way to hold the engine from rotating.
Dan.

Response From jtwilley56

Thanks for the reply. I was wrong about the model. It is actually an Accord. I will assume its also a right hand thread. I pulled the starter loose and can widged a screw driver in to keep the engine from turning.

Jim

Response From DanD Top Rated Answer

Yea that'll work.
Dan.

Response From jtwilley56

Dear Dan,

I purchased a long handled breaker bar for $10.00 and that did the job. We found the problem and I'm going to repair it and put the car back together this weekend. Thanks for the help.

Jim
