07-09 GMC Acadia, Buick Enclave

Question From flgmtech1 on 07-09 GMC Acadia, Buick Enclave

If any one has encountered an issue with the following DTC's or symptoms, I recommend taking the vehicle to the dealer so that the PCM may be flashed for the newest update, and if the DTC's re occur, then both left and right bank cylinder heads will need to be measured for camshaft end play.
Check engine light on, and or Stabilitrak message and ABS light on, when scanned DTC's P0011, P0014, P0021, P0024, P0341, P0346, P0366, or P0391 Set And or EBCM DTC C0561

Response From way2old Top Rated Answer

Had some of the same codes in F150's along with cylinder misfire codes and it wound up being the cam phasers.

Response From flgmtech1

for some reason the left head more so than the right, has issues with the cams walking forward in the journals. The latest TSB states specs are no more than 0.4mm of end play, but the one I just did had 1.32mm of end play intake and 0.87mm exhaust. The TSB calls for measuring all 4 heads and if within the 0.4mm adding a thrust washer behind each cam actuator. If as in the case of the vehicle I had, it exceeds the 0.4 and using a 2.5mm allen wrench(hex) see if it fits between the actuator and the bearing cap of the cam, which it did in the exhuast cam, then the head must be replaced and the new head must also be fitted with thrust washers when installing.

2011 AMC Acadia hardly starts when I'm getting gas

Question From sonia68 on 2011 AMC Acadia hardly starts when I'm getting gas

2011 GMC Acadia starts on a dime every time EXCEPT when I turn it off to get gas. Once tank is full, I put gas cap back on it turns over and over at least 4 times then it finally starts. Only happens when I'm at gas pump. Thank you for your ideas

Response From Discretesignals Top Rated Answer

Kind of new, but you should check to see if the EVAP purge valve is stuck open. Is the check engine light on?

If the purge valve is stuck open during refueling, fuel vapors will be pushed into the intake. That will flood the engine and make it start hard or run rough till the flooding is cleared out.

Easiest way to check to see if the valve is stuck open is to unplug the electrical connector and the vapor line that goes back to the charcoal canister at the valve. If you feel vacuum on the purge valve nipple with the engine idling, the valve is stuck open and needs to be replaced. Note: having the purge valve electrical connector unplugged will probably set a purge valve circuit code.

Evap purge soleniod is located on top of the engine next to the throttle body.

airbag module help

Question From arkansasdave on airbag module help

I have some experiance with airbag repair but I am trying to replace the passenger airbag module in my wifes 2008 gmc acadia. I believe it is in the console but not for sure, I dont want to rip it apart and find out it is somewhere else. I have a replacement module already the dealer told me that mine was bad and is why the light stays on continually, I took loose the side panel but can't see anything. So before I take anymore apart I need some guidance, anybody have any experiance with these? Thanks AD

Response From Hammer Time

It's under the dash pad, behind the glove box.

Response From arkansasdave

thank you I appreciate it.

thanks
AD

Response From Hammer Time

You're welcome.

Response From arkansasdave

I removed the glove box and there is a plastic cover above, will I have to take out the dash in order to get to it or does that plastic come out?

thanks,
AD

Response From arkansasdave

to make sure I didn't miss word this it is the aluminum module that is about 3x6 inches with a big black terminal plug connection and is the part that controls the air bag system. I looks like a chunk of aluminum and has a number on the sticker =25861147 at the top.

Response From arkansasdave

the part I bought was called passenger side airbag control module.

Response From Hammer Time

I don't know what you have there. There is only one control module for all the air bags and it is under the console. What I directed you to is the passenger airbag itself.
You started this question by stating you had experience in airbag repair. I really wonder about that. I generally don't advise untrained people on airbag components as they are very dangerous but if you don't know the difference between and airbag and a control module, you need to stay away from this. If you're changing a module, it requires programming anyway.

Response From arkansasdave

I do know the difference no need for mud slinging I just needed some help and I thank you for the info and I will figure it out some other way. thanks AD

Response From Hammer Time

I just hope you don't end up with an airbag exploding in your face. That's why we don't advise untrained people to mess with explosive airbags.

I will close this question now.

Response From Hammer Time Top Rated Answer

Yep, the instrument panel dash pad has to be removed.

Side view mirror glass broken

Question From oshawa on Side view mirror glass broken

I have a 2008 GMC Acadia SLT with heated side view mirrors. Passenger side glass only has been broken and needs to be replaced. Is this a difficult job best left to a dealer or can a handy "do-it-your-selfer" manage it. If anyone can provide info. on how to do it would be greatly appreciated.

Response From dmac0923

i believe the mirror is sold as a housing only meaning the whole plastic piece as well not just the glass.

its going to be pricey. but the install is fairly straight forward.

remove door panel.
disconnect the electrical connectors for the heated/power mirror functions
unbolt mirror from door frame,

assembly opposite of removal

Response From oshawa Top Rated Answer

Thanks for your response. Checked with GMpartsdirect.com and I can buy the glass mirror only for $39.74 but don't know how to replace/install. If you have any knowledge of how to do it I would appreciate it...............Thanks again

Response From Tom Greenleaf

Is that litterally just the glass or the glass without heater and the housing? You may be able to get just the glass stick on replacement or have an auto glass place cut and install just the glass for you if you don't want the heater, or the convex type as that may not be so easy to duplicate,

T

Response From way2old

Most of the newer mirrors have plastic locks attached to the back of them and they pop into slots on the housing. If there is any left of the old one, see if there are any tabs on the back of the broken one. You are not out anything if it breaks.

Cylinder ignition coils

Question From Cplouie on Cylinder ignition coils

I have a 2009 GMC Acadia. For the third time in the last 18 months and the fourth time overall I have had a cylinder ignition coil go bad. The car only has 75,000 miles and the dealer tells me that they have no reason that they are going bad and that GM will not cover any of the repairs because they are non moving parts of the drive train. It seams to me that they are fixing the symptom and not fixing the cause. It has been #4, #2, #6 and now #3. Help!,,,,

Response From Hammer Time Top Rated Answer

Coil failures at that mileage is very common. I recommend changing them all at once when they begin to fail.
