The In fuel line coming from the fuel filter to the gas tank will not stay connected to the nipple coming out of the fuel tank. The nipple and the clip look fine but the clip has slipped off twice now. My brother put on a new fuel filter about 6 months ago and I never had a chance to check out his handiwork. About a month ago, the fuel line slipped off for the first time. I repaired it and as far as i know, I put the clip on the nipple as far as it would go. It slipped off again two days ago. Neither time we put the line on was engine oil used to lubricate the nipple. Could this be why it keeps slipping off? Or could it be something else? Any help is greatly appreciated.

It's apparent that he must have damaged the connector and it will have to be replaced.

There are three lines that go to the filter. Two lines are part of the filter and go to the fuel pump module. The other line goes to fuel pipe that runs to the fuel rail on the engine. Which one you meaning? Did you replace the clip? Use a little engine oil on the nipple will ease installation of the o ring in the connector when you plug it in. Always a good idea to replace the white retaining clip.

If the actual connector and or line is damaged that plugs into the filter your going to need to replace it using a nylon line repair kit as HT stated.

Are you dropping the tank down to get the lines off the fuel pump module. You snap a plastic nipple off the module and you'll be shucking out $200 for a new module.

I put the new quick-connect clip on, put some engine oil on the nipple, and the line slipped right on. My guess is that the line never got put on right the first two times cause neither of us put the oil on there. I gave it a couple decent tugs and it wouldn't budge. Hopefully that solves it. If it doesn't, I'll probably be back on here within the next couple months :P Thanks a lot for the ideas. I appreciate the help.

You more than likely got it right. Doesn't hurt to put some lube on your nipps. At least that is what I am told all the time.

We got a new fuel filter just to be on the safe side but I pulled the new connector out just to look at it and it looks the exact same as what's in there. Ill try swapping the new connector in there and see how much of a grip it gives me though.

I have a 1999 Chevy Blazer with 119,000 miles on it. It has a 4.3 liter engine, automatic transmission and 4 wheel drive. While on a trip last week, driving in a thunderstorm, the engine suddenly died. It did not cough and sputter, it was more like the key was suddenly shut off. I ran the battery down fairly quickly trying to re-start the vehicle (I was aware of the need to replace the battery). I checked for fuel at the fuel rail and it was present. I had the vehicle towed to a repair shop where they determine that the fuel pump was only supplying 20 psi instead of 60 psi, so they replaced the fuel pump module and the fuel filter. The next morning, it was difficult to start the vehicle (long crank time - if I cycle the key 2 or 3 times before cranking it each morning it will start immediately - I am questioning a faulty check valve in the fuel pump or a pressure regulator problem). Anyway, we got it started and drove for about 10 - 15 minutes, and as I was stopping at a traffic light, the vehicle died again, and again it was as if the key had been shut off. I was able to restart it, so we cancelled the rest of the trip and headed home. On the 50 mile drive home, I noticed that each time I pressed on the brake pedal, the clock on the radio, the PRNDL and odometer would all flicker, and occasionally the vehicle would stall (idiot lights would come on and the guages would freeze where they were). If I released the brake pedal and tapped the accelerator, the engine would re-start (or maybe it just kept it from stalling - uncertain on that.) I also noticed that the stalling occurred much more often when I had the a/c running and the radio turned on. Assuming that this was being caused by a drain on the electrical system when braking, I replaced the old battery. This seemed to solve my problem for about 2 days. Then it all started happening again. At first, driving without the radio or a/c on seemed to help, but now it will stall regardless of what accessories are on. The guages and clock are no longer flickering ( the battery seems to have solved that part). The stalling does not occur as soon as you press on the brake pedal. It is usually once you are almost stopped, or as you are decelerating for a curve or turning a corner. I have tried to slip the transmission into neutral and pressing the accelerator as I approach a stop light, but this does not seem to help. I have let the vehicle coast to a stop without using the brake, with the vehicle in neutral, and it does not stall, but when I leave it in gear and let the engine slow the vehicle to almost a stop, it will stall as soon as I do press on the brake. I have also noticed that, when it stalls and I put it in neutral to re-start it, it will start immediately if I am not pressing on the brake pedal, but it will crank a little longer if I have my foot on the brake while I am trying to re-start it. Other than the fuel pump, fuel filter and battery, I replaced the alternator about a year and a half ago, and I cleaned the throttle body and IAC motor yesterday (when I worked for Chrysler I saw a lot of "stalling at stoplights" issues due to carbon build up around the throttle blades and on the IAC pintel). I have checked for codes and there are none present. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I don't know the answer, but your post caught my attention immediately as i have had a similar problem with my '92 sierra pickup for maybe a year or more now. It has the throttle body injector and may be similar to your vehicle in other ways. I was just logging in to go back and look at my posts to be reminded of what I have already replaced in an attempt to fix it.
Mine stalls some days, some days not, but the pattern has some similarities to yours as it seems to happen most often when braking or slowing, and when the a/c is running. I was thinking I would look into it some more this week as it has been a little more frequent. It has always restarted, sometimes on the fly in neutral, sometimes only after a couple of minutes by the side of the road. I have slipped into neutral when slowing and it does seem to help mine when it is having one of these tantrum days. I will follow the replies to your post and will certainly share the answer when someday the light dawns.
Come to think of it, booboosissy may be onto something with that brake diaphragm suggestion. Yesterday mine stalled on the way to work and the brake warning light came on at the same time. My truck has about 195K on it. Must.... check ... brakes.... before.......
