2005 Chrysler Town and Country Van LX, 3.3 liter engine, 190k miles

Check Engine Light (CEL) was on, failed emissions test in Tennessee, O2 sensor showed as the problem.

My mechanic (not the dealership) replaced the O2 sensor. The CEL came on immediately afterward. My mechanic traced the problem to the only thing they could figure which was a bad Engine Control Module/Powertrain Control Module (ECM/PCM) (two different names for the same thing, I think).

I ordered a rebuilt ECM from a reputable company on eBay. My mechanic installed it and the CEL again came on immediately afterward. My mechanic is stumped. I wonder if my original ECM was even bad.

The dealership charges over $90 just to check the ECM and can only check the one that is on the vehicle; not the one that was replaced. The eBay company has a tech support line, and I left three messages on Friday afternoon. I haven't received a response yet.

What else could this be? Thanks in advance!

Check all your fuses.... A blown O2 heater fuse can cause some confusion sometimes......

Cycling the key from off to the on position 3 times should bring up the codes in the odometer.....You have to time it just right......

The ignition-key fault code is P0132. That's the only one that came up. I won't be able to find out for sure which sensor has been replaced until the shop opens on Monday, but it probably was the O2 Sensor 1.

That is a "high voltage" code for the 0/2. That code is rarely caused by the sensor itself. It's usually something else getting into the circuit.

Did you have the new PCM programmed?

You may find out the dealer was the cheapest route.

Are you able to post the exact engine error code numbers that are set. If not then go to a place like Auto Zone and have a scan done. The scan will show any codes that are set and the scan at Auto Zone is free.

I have a 2002 Chrsler /Town and Country all wheel drive ..currently as 100,000 miles i...s plaged with electrical issues ..i.e. radio lights /clock go out as well as dash lights ..when this happens car dies...this` has happened 3 times .sits for half hour then starts . for a few days is fine.....mechanic has had it 3 times... of course it does not do it then ..he checks all systems and they are fine ...please ..Any info greatly appreciated ...Thanks` Triumph

Sounds like it possibly could be a Body Control Module issue.
Just a guess that is...


Recently had 2 different vans that experienced this type concern,both were BCM related.
Both would have Security lights come on....

Last week a friend of mine had a Durango that would stall out intermittently and sit for about 20 minutes and then restart....no codes stored...then run ok for a couple days..etc....hers seemed to act up on hotter days...
Hers was an Engine control module problem (ECM).
