Question From Anchondo on 95 eagle talon troubles

A ''friend'' of mine drove my eagle talon with no fluids or anything and seized the motor. I don't know if i need to replace the whole motor or if I can just get some replacement parts, or where to start searching for these things.

Response From Hammer Time

No, tell your "friend" that the motor is wasted and get a new one.

Response From Anchondo

Alright thanks, I heard a 91-92 talon motor would work as well. I'm not very knowledgeable on these things. Where would you recommend looking for a motor, ive checked ebay and craigslist, but again not very pro at that either. I would be eternally greatfull if someone could help me out.

Response From Hammer Time Top Rated Answer

You can't go that old with the motor. Your car is OBD2 and an OBD1 won't work. A motor isn't the kind of thing you want to buy online either unless it's remanufactured and crated. You need to know the history and mileage of the engine and even hear it run. You should also get a warranty if you buy it from a local junkyard. Either way you are just rolling the dice when you buy a used engine. You can get burned badly here.

Question From wildcardkarmody on 1996 eagle talon

what could an oil leak be from if it's right behind the timing belt?

Response From Tom Greenleaf

YES! There are oil sealing items in there,

T

Response From wildcardkarmody

do you think it's a seal or do you think it's something harder to fix?

Response From Tom Greenleaf Top Rated Answer

On an OHC engine there is a head gasket that is sealing oil but you really have to look and see the origin to know for sure before you tear into it,

92 Eagle Talon Electrical problems

Question From fishinhic on 92 Eagle Talon Electrical problems

1992 Eagle Talon, 1.6 DOHC Turbo, 250,000 miles. Car died, wouldn't start until we put jumper cables on, as soon as a cable was disconnected the car would die, put the cable back on and it would run off other vehicle. Pulled the Alternator, had it tested, it failed. Put new Alternator on and now not much works, only lights, door chime, and dome light. No other dash warning lights work, radio does not work, nor does the heater fan. Checked all fuses and fusable links, they are ok. Tried to jump and push start the car and there is no fire. We replaced the battery about a week before the car died because there was a problem with it, After putting Alternator I even tried to switch batteries, nothing is working. Could this be in the ignition switch? Please help, I am lost. Thank you in advance for your help.

Response From Hammer Time

Check all your main fuses/fusible links first. Then check the battery connections for any small wires that you neglected to hook back up.

Response From fishinhic Top Rated Answer

Checked all fuses, and fusable links, checked for loose wires, replaced the ignition switch, still nothing. Could this be in a relay?

fix stereo mounts?

Question From rayrayx11 on fix stereo mounts?

i have a 1995 eagle talon. the last owner took out the stock stereo mounts. how hard will it be to replace them?

Response From DrElectrics

What do you mean by "Stereo Mount" 95% of stereos I have fitted sit in a cage, that slides in and connects with the inners of the dash mount. What does this one look like?

Response From Guest

when i bought the car the tape player was just sitting there on a cloth. the last owner took the rest. including the brackets inside so i cant use a aftermarket install kit.

by the way. do you know how to wire the aftermarket deck into the car? im not sure how.

Response From DrElectrics Top Rated Answer

You will have to put the cradle in and then screw it into the dash on either side, so it stays there. The aftermarket stereo should have instructions. If not, maybe this will help?

1995 Eagle Talon loss of power steering

Showing 2 out of 2 Posts
Question From pheal on 1995 Eagle Talon loss of power steering

I recently had my car, a 1995 Eagle Talon TSi AWD completely repainted, so it sat for about 1 month at the body shop. When I picked it up, it would not idle at a stop sign, but would stall. So because the fuel tank was near empty, I added a bottle of fuel injector cleaner to a new tank of 93 octane gas. Over the next day and a half, that cleared up the stalling at idle speed. NOW, my problem: It was a cold night and my car which has 5 speed manual transmission started fine. Without waiting for it to warm up, I started to drive home from work which is only 5 blocks. I continued about 1 block and several dash lights came on, making me think the car had stalled. I gradually braked and slowed to a stop thinking it needed to be restarted. In fact, the engine had not died but was still running quietly. I however noticed a loss of power steering and the dash lights illuminated were the electrical system battery symbol and an engine coolant system symbol. Since it seemed to be quietly running and would accelerate with no noticeable clamor or difference in power, I drove slowly home giving myself extra time to turn corners with just manual steering. I checked the power steering fluid level while the car was cold and it looked low, at the minimum line and not up to the max line. Is there a pump or belt situation that could also have caused this problem while still letting the auto be drivable? And how about those warning lights? Thanks for your input. pheal

Response From Loren Champlain Sr Top Rated Answer

Yep, sounds like you lost a belt. Be sure to check all of the pulleys and the serpentine drive belt tensioner, that they are all in alignment.
