Question From XCWX1 on 1986 Mazda B2000 pickup

1986 Mazda B2000 pickup

Just put in a rebuilt manual 5 speed transmission and new clutch. Runs great until I have run it for awhile and then it starts shuttering when pulling off.

What do I need to replace?

Response From Mr.scotty

Did you bring the flywheel to a machine shop before installing the new clutch?

Response From XCWX1

No I didnt ..

Response From Mr.scotty

Then you will probably have to do the job over again.

Response From XCWX1

I am probably getting ready to pull the engine and transmission. Am I going to have to replace the clutch and machine the flywheel? or just machine the flywheel?

Response From Sidom

It depends on the reason for the shuddering......

If there was oil leaking onto it or some other contamination problem then it would problably be a good idea to change it out while the engine is out, it'll never be any easier to do.

If the flywheel is just scored & the disc looks good, since you said it was "brand new" then you could probably reuse it....

Response From XCWX1

I put the clutch in maybe 3 months ago. Replaced the rear seal, transmission and clutch. The shuttering didnt start until a month ago I guess.

Response From Sidom

As mentioned......If nothing has leaked onto it, you "should" be fine going with the old one.

If by chance something has leaked onto the disk, don't make the mistake thinking you can just clean it up..... You can sand it & spray it off with brk clean & it will "look" fine but the disk is like a sponge so it will have absorbed whatever it was & it will come back to haunt you down the road.......

Response From synchro

Depends, Is the disc organic or ceramic?

Response From XCWX1

Checked today. Flywheel needs turning everything else looks fine.

Thanks all.

Response From Mr.scotty

Yup, Thats what we're here for.

Response From Mr.scotty Top Rated Answer

The clutch disck may be fine then.
You'll just have to find out when you pull her apart.

How do You bleed hydrolic clutch on 1983 Mazda B2000?

Question From kellysdragons on How do You bleed hydrolic clutch on 1983 Mazda B2000?

I have a 1983 mazda B2000 Sundowner. I need to know how to proper bleed the clutch. Thanks in advance for any help you may have.

K

Response From Tom Greenleaf Top Rated Answer

Find the bleeder at the slave cylinder. It should be just like a brake bleeder. Fill master cylinder for the clutch and have someone push the pedal to the floor, hold there and open bleeder till fluid come out then tighten up before releasing the pedal from the floor and repeat till no air is coming out. Make sure master cylinder doesn't run out of fluid while doing this,

94 Mazda clutch problem

Question From DennyV on 94 Mazda clutch problem

1994 Mazda B2200, 5 speed standard, motor L4, engine 2.2L, 110,000 miles

All of a sudden I had no clutch, so put a new one in. I still have no clutch power. I have fluid, so I think the hydraulics work efficiently. No fluid goes to the master clutch plate. The slave doesn't get fluid either. Any ideas? Thanks!

Response From Loren Champlain Sr

Do you mean that you have no resistance in the clutch pedal while depressing it? Or, do you mean that you can start the engine, push in the clutch, and put in any gear..and still won't move? Just because the clutch master cylinder is full of fluid, doesn't eliminate a hydraulic problem. Try bleeding the master cylinder, first. Then, bleed the rest of the system at the slave cylinder. The bleeder on the slave will have to be higher than the unit, so you may have to unbolt it from the bell housing and hold it up while bleeding to get any air that might be trapped in the slave. If bleeding doesn't help, you may have a faulty master cylinder (or slave).

Response From DennyV

I've done that... and have no resistence - haven't tried to put it gear as I know that's useless at this point. Now just have to figure out if the new master cylinder I just put in is faulty or if it's the new slave. Dang! GURR!

BTW, Do you have much snow down there in the Vancouver/Portland area, I assume? We have over three feet up here at Cheney. Nice today, but another storm is coming. Thanks, for the reply and have a Happy New Year!
NE WA -Denny

Response From Jeff Norfolk

Just a side note. These master cylinders are problematic. You must follow the bleeding instuctions exactly or you will have the problem you described. I have done battle with these several times and they can be a real pain. If it didn't come with bench bleeding instructions I can post what I have done for you. Good Luck

Response From Loren Champlain Sr

Cheney? I heard that you guys got hit pretty hard. No, ours is nearly gone. Only had about 18". Has been raining and in the mid 40's for three days, now. Those hydraulic systems can be a real PIA to bleed. Hopefully, just air. Be sure to buy NEW, not remans. Good luck.

Response From DennyV Top Rated Answer

Yeah, we have lots of snow, but the roads are clear. I am giving up until I can return and get another master cylinder. Guess I'll go drop the tranny again. Hopefully I'll get it fixed and running again by next week-end. IT's a PIA all right and more.
Thanks, I could use some luck, too. -Denny

1988 mazda mx6 clutch adjustment

Question From car984 on 1988 mazda mx6 clutch adjustment

I have a 1988 mazda mx6, non-turbo. Today the clutch pedal went to the floor and stayed there after I drove it a short distance and made 3-4 gear shifts. I checked fluid reservoirs and found one at driver's-side, firewall that was empty of dot 3 fluid. I filled it and pumped clutch several times. I started engine and pumped clutch several more times. This worked. However, the clutch is still spongy. Does anyone have any suggestions of what to do next?

Thanks.

P.S. I haven't figured out how to adjust the clutch cable (if that's what I need to do next).

Response From Jeff Norfolk Top Rated Answer

I don't think there is an adjustment on this clutch cable. It is all hydralic. Since you had to add fluid than there must be a leak somewhere. The reason it still feels spongey is that there is air in the hydralic system somewhere. You will need to find the leak in the system, repair it, and then bleed the air out like you would with your brakes.

2000 mazda b2500 clutch slave cylinder connector

Question From bmanclarkdude on 2000 mazda b2500 clutch slave cylinder connector

Hello everyone this is my first post to your fine forum.
2000 mazda b2500 2.5 liter single overhead cam 2 plugs per cylinder
After cruising 230k miles on the same clutch, it finally crapped out.
I installed new clutch and pilot bearing and I started bleeding the clutch.
The hydraulic connector from the master cylinder to clutch slave cylinder will not stay connected.
I push it in and I can not pull it out bare handed without compressing the locking fingers in the female connector
with the ring on the male connector. But when I start to get pressure to the slave cylinder it pops out.
The only thing I can think of to address this problem is to replace the slave cylinder. Are there any options
that I'm not seeing?

Response From Hammer Time Top Rated Answer

Nope, replacing the slave is likely the only way t5o resolve it.
