Question From Armysappr on Please help!

Need some help. I have a 1993 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 z71 4wd wnd I believe a 350 with about 281,000 miles on it. I've had some trouble with my acceleration and towing recently. Just wondering some possibilities. Already checked fuel pump/filter. It bogs down when I accelerate/let off but usually only when it warms up. Everything seems normal besides the lack of bottom end power. If anyone could offer some advice that'd be awesome!

Response From Hammer Time

With that many miles have you done a compression test?

Response From Tom Greenleaf

? High miles - also check exhaust restriction. Some OK when cold lose it when warmed up or hot. IDK working it hard now think things will begin happening despite a well known tough engine there's lots more,

Response From Armysappr

Alright. I'll have some more time today to check it out.

1993 350 / 5.7L.... Can you confirm - TBI or CPI?
This was a around time chevy was switching from TBI to CPI the so called spider fuel injection... My reference shows both this year... and troubleshooting would be different.

Response From Hammer Time

I'm only showing TBI on the 5.7 in that year.

Response From Armysappr

Haven't checked compression. I'll check it out though. Thanks

Question From idiot44 on 1997 silverado-hesitation

I have a 1997 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. it has a 350 5.7l vortec. This just started occuring today but whenever i stop or get off the gas, in then get back on it it hesitates, like stops for a split second then starts going again. Its rainning like cats and dogs out if that has anything to do with? i dont know im young and dont know these things. if any one has any advice plese help. Thank you!

Response From dave284

It almost sounds like the TPS switch, trottle position sensor...does the check engine light come on during the moment it happens? I've also seen dirty fuel filters cause this reaction.

Response From dmac0923 Top Rated Answer

like mentioned above, need to know if the check engine light is on and what codes are supplied.

also when was the last time the plug wires were changed. i think that because you mentioned the heavy rain.

next time its raining, and the car starts hesitating, get out and spray some WD40 on the plug wires. the wd40 will temporarily displace the moisture.

if the solves the problem. the wires are bad, replace and good to go

1994 Silverado 5.7 gas bad idle

Question From mudgrunt234 on 1994 Silverado 5.7 gas bad idle

I have a 1994 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 2WD 5.7 Gas. Just replaced both heads and exhaust manifolds plugs wires etc. Starts slow 3-4 seconds, idles normal for about 10 seconds then drops and surges back up. If you put in gear it wants to stall. If you mash the gas down hard it will run in gear but severe loss of power. Pretty confident timing is set properly starting to trouble shoot tommorrow need some suggestions on possible problems.

Response From Tom Greenleaf Top Rated Answer

Gotta check everything that was touched to do that job, all electric and vacuum items. I would check that fuel pressure is up there and holds, KOEO then while running as well.

Question: Why did it need all this?

Question From psychaospath on 88' Silverado 1500 pickup stereo issue

Vehicle : 88' Chevrolet Silverado 1500 w/ 4WD
Engine : It's a V8 5.0 or 5.7 liter

Hey, I don't know much about vehicle repair, but I have an issue with my radio. It picks up only 5 or 6 stations, and the signal is very poor. Whenever the truck is actually running, it doesnt pick up any stations at all and it makes a very loud and obnoxious whirring noise. It is the original radio that came with the truck. What do I do to fix it or what do I need to buy?

Response From DrElectrics Top Rated Answer

Hey mate, Sounds like the antenna plug has come out of either the unit or your actual antenna. Check under the hood 1st at the place where the atenna is for any loose wires. If none, Take out your unit and look on the back. There will be a seperate wire to your harness. Make sure it is plugged in.
