2008 Chevrolet Malibu Key Fobs and TPM not working

Showing 3 out of 6 Posts | Show 3 Hidden Posts
Question From GatewayDashCam on 2008 Chevrolet Malibu Key Fobs and TPM not working

My battery died recently. After I replaced the battery, the key fobs and the tire pressure display did not work.
Any ideas?
Is this something I can fix or would I need a computer with GM software?
About how much is the part(s)?

If you are trying to fish for other answers, realize that we all see the same forum and user history, along with IP addresses for those of us mods.

HT also warned you rather well after I made it clear that this is not a legal forum. You are obviously trying to think you can backdoor it. You can't. Not here. That is not what this place is about.

You claimed in your original post that you had what I still consider to be an ironclad case against the dealer you are in suit with. But realize that the courts DO NOT recognize usernames on forums of the internet. Hell, you can find people online that think Y2K actually happened if you try hard enough. Is that going to hold up in court, no.

I once in my early days of dealing with the law was ignorant of these things. I was told very sternly by my lawyer after doing what I thought was "helpful" to shut the hell up and never speak again if I knew what was good for me. By opening my mouth I turned a 6 month sentence into a 16 month. one. All I had to do was shut up, but I knew I was right and thought I could say anything. I spent my 18th and 19'th birthdays without seeing the light of day.

While you do not face the same penalties in a civil case vs mine which was a criminal one, the same lessons can be learned. If you piss off that judge, and trust me it takes very little (why do you think I got an extra 10 months on my sentence as a first time offender and a juvenile at that?) he WILL hold you in contempt of court and you will get to meet my sort of people. I do not think you will like them.

Trust me, I've been in more jails than you have driven by and by no means am I proud of it. Let me tell you that I have had a better education of how the real system works than many lawyers because I have been in it. If you undermine your case now like you are, or think you can get real evidence off of internet forums, your lawyer is going to be mad at you for wasting his time.

Please make your next post about a legitimite concern instead of trying to raise what you think is evidence and the rest of the jury calls you an idiot for mentioning. If your lawyer actually tries to present the printouts of internet forums as "evidence" you can kiss your verdict goodbye.

If you are just representing yourself just say so. Don't waste our time fishing for things that will not help your case and do not post bogus links that don't work to court documents. The link to the youtube vid of your first thread was the only one that did work. If you want my two cents, PM me with WORKING links of all relevant court docs and I will tell you what I think of the direction your case is going. I will do it in PM as it has been clearly stated this is a public forum for car repair, not a legal site.

At all times you should first defer to the legal council you have paid to represent you in this matter. They will not like to be interfered with and likely have more experience in dealing with this than you do. Having a dashcam on your car helps them build a case, it does not make you a lawyer. Let these people earn their money.

This is the last warning. While we welcome people to post on this site for help, it is about fixing cars and that is it. This is the second thread on the same issue. If the next topic you open is just a fishing expedition on the same thing then the BAN button gets pushed. I would prefer that not happen, as I would like for us to be here when you choose to do a repair of your own and have a question. You meet the best of criteria for a poster after all:
1. you know how to use your computer properly.
2. you have a camera that films in 1080p on your dash, showing it can be moved to show other things in clarity such as the issue at hand you need help fixing.
3. you want to ensure that you do not waste needless money on repairs in the hands of others. So let us talk you through it!
4. You have a good knowledge of the english language in its written and spoken forms, not only proving you are not an idiot but that you can understand clear and concise instructions.

So taking those 4 factors into account, I invite you back anytime to talk about repairs you are trying to perform ( that this site was made for) and not how a dealership hosed you ( for your lawyer to prove with your dash cam that they indeed did to a jury of your peers)

Best of luck to you.

I appreciate the invitation but I see through your backhanded compliments.
I came here respectfully and I even replied to your Mod bullshit nicely.
You really need to get over yourself. You are a moderator on an obscure discussion board in a cob webbed corner of the internet.
You assume a lot, pass judgment on posters and then speak as if you are Jesus himself.
I love how you pull out the fact that you can see IP's like its an ace card. IP's and history are kids play.
Do you realize how long this style of discussion board has been around? I can see the same data you can and more.
I could return under a proxy and ask the same legitimate questions... what's the difference? You wouldn't even know.
By the way, the links work dude. The problem is on your end but whatever... I already know your reply.
Keep up the good work. Your posts can make anyone feel better about themselves.
I don't need advice from assholes like you.

I appreciate the invitation but I see through your backhanded compliments.

"backhanded?" I was trying to let you down as easy as I could. But if you want to make it like that, well...

I came here respectfully and I even replied to your Mod bullSh!t nicely.

My "mod bullSh!t" is actually just a mod. No BS, its actually on title and such. Now you have already convinced me to click the button even though I gave you an out so you could later return. Your loss.

You really need to get over yourself. You are a moderator on an obscure discussion board in a cob webbed corner of the internet.

Well, the porn I watch is also in a cobwebbed corner of the internet but it still brings a smile to my face. It seems strange that you come on high and mighty, acting like you have Johnie Cochrane himself defending you yet you need to go onto trivial forums in as you yourself call a "cob webbed corner of the internet to find people willing to justify your own arguement.

You assume a lot, pass judgment on posters and then speak as if you are Jesus himself.

I'm an atheist, why would I want to speak as if I am someone who thought he was a god and then was cut up by roman soldiers in the iron age?

I love how you pull out the fact that you can see IP's like its an ace card. IP's and history are kids play.

Ugh, yes I would dumbass. While being able to see an IP is not new, we bothered to modify this site due to spam. So we can not only ban ypur user name but the IP itself. Also, maybe you should think of this. A lot of people who have more computer skills than people skills tend to become trolls. Kinda like you.
By the way, the links work dude.

No they don't . You had about a dozen of them and all came back to nothing. My computer works fine on links that actually work.

The problem is on your end but whatever... I already know your reply.

I reply that you are a dick and now have worn out your welcome here. feel free to waste the time of others as you troll the internet safely behind a screen in mom's basement. Tell you what, we can make a fair exchange of goods. As you have wowed the world with putting a camera in your car and owning a youtube account I feel like I owe you something. PM me and I will tell you what a vagina looks like. I know, I know, but trust me some day that advice I am willing to exchange might come in handy. Its worth a thought anyway.

Keep up the good work. Your posts can make anyone feel better about themselves.
I don't need advice from #$%^&%$s like you.

I could care less if you feel better. I was trying to help you save your court case that unfortunately you do deserve to win. But maybe I'll contact the dealer who has the restraining order on you and forward all of this. Your lawyer will not be happy with you.

If you don't need advice from #$%^&%$s like me, then please do not ask for it. I bring something even better than the imitation #$%^&%$ like me, I am the #$%^&%$ that is me.

2003 Chevrolet Malibu won't start

Question From Big Sam on 2003 Chevrolet Malibu won't start

I have a 2003 Chevrolet Malibu that won't start. When the key is turned to the start position the motor just turns over. I the mean time none of the gauges registers. When the gauges do finally register the motor will turn over and start. It takes some time for these gauges to register so thqt the vehicle can start. I need help.

Response From Discretesignals

Could be a faulty ignition switch. You'll have to check for power to and after the switch on the circuits that are powered up in the start position.

Response From Big Sam

Supposly the switch was changed by a mechanic but I somehow doubt that this was done are you saying that I should try something say the turn signal while the gauges are not responding?

Response From Tom Greenleaf Top Rated Answer

Brake lights or hazards should stay operational - not sure of other items in this case,

1997 Chevrolet Malibu LS Stops while in motion

Question From Trenrev1 on 1997 Chevrolet Malibu LS Stops while in motion

I have a 1997 Chevrolet Malibu LS 3100 Engine 219,000 miles, engine rebuild 3,000 miles ago.

My Problem is that engine will start and I can drive for about 15 minutes I hear alarm chimes from dash then the engine will shut off. Check Engine light is not on when running and Theft light is not on. The car will restart after 10 or 15 minutes and the cycle repeats.

I have replaced the battery, the fuel filter and the camshaft sensor and the problem persists.

Response From Hammer Time

All "crank, no start" conditions are approached in the same way. Every engine requires certain functions to be able to run. Some of these functions rely on specific components to work and some components are part of more than one function so it is important to see the whole picture to be able to conclude anything about what may have failed. Also, these functions can ONLY be tested during the failure. Any other time and they will simply test good because the problem isn't present at the moment.
If you approach this in any other way, you are merely guessing and that only serves to replace unnecessary parts and wastes money.

Every engine requires spark, fuel and compression to run. That's what we have to look for.

These are the basics that need to be tested and will give us the info required to isolate a cause.

1) Test for spark at the plug end of the wire using a spark tester. If none found, check for power supply on the + terminal of the coil with the key on.

2) Test for injector pulse using a small bulb called a noid light. If none found, check for power supply at one side of the injector with the key on.

3) Use a fuel pressure gauge to test for correct fuel pressure, also noticing if the pressure holds when key is shut off.

Once you have determined which of these functions has dropped out,
you will know which system is having the problem.

Response From Trenrev1 Top Rated Answer

Engine is getting fuel.

When I had a no start issue there was no spark, but the next day the car started with no problem. then it started repeating the same cycle, running 15 minutes, stalling and not restarting for another 10 or 15 minutes.

When the car is idle and I apply the accelerator, engine goes to about 4,000 rpms and then idles up and down with the accelerator pressed to the floor, engine doesn't rev more than 4,500 rpms (idling up and down when in park).

Response From Hammer Time

When the car is idle and I apply the accelerator, engine goes to about 4,000 rpms and then idles up and down with the accelerator pressed to the floor, engine doesn't rev more than 4,500 rpms (idling up and down when in park).

It's not supposed to. It has a rev limiter in Park.

When you have completed all of the testing and you have all of the results 9wnen it's not starting), then post back.

Response From Tom Greenleaf

So, you rev the poor thing to 4,500 and any questions why you blow up a motor? If you have to ask it's too late,

2000 Chevrolet Malibu Tapping Noise

Question From dnorto3 on 2000 Chevrolet Malibu Tapping Noise

2000 Chevrolet Malibu V6 80K miles

There is a loud tapping from the engine that speeds up with engine acceleration. Stick Valve? Bad Lifters? Rod? Can a fuel injector make this noise (that's where I hear it with Stethoscope).

Car runs GREAT! Has much POWER! Idles GREAT.

I don't want to put much money into this car so am trying to pinpoint the problem before I begin replacing parts...

Can anyone help?

Response From Sidom

With out hearing the noise it's hard to guess..... All the things you mentioned could cause the problem. If you can't pinpoint it for sure it might not be a bad idea to pay a few bucks to have a trained ear take a quick listen..... Could winded up being cheaper in the long run

Response From dnorto3

Hey...thanks for your reply! I appreciate it.

So, can a Fuel Injector make that much noise? Sounds like two ball peen hammers tapping and you can hear it over the motor...when I use the stethoscope, I hear the sound loud and clear on the fuel rail...more so then on that part of the engine.

I agree with you on the taking it for a diagnosis...and will follow that advice if I don't hear anything concrete...

Thanks again...let me know your thoughts about the fuel injector. Darn car runs terrific and has great power.

Response From Sidom Top Rated Answer

While injectors can make a loud tapping noise, it's unlikely this is the noise you are hearing....

More than likely it's a lifter or rocker arm problem............
