  • Whatever your task at hand -- whether its launching that boat before daybreak, setting up your camper before the rush or getting a final load to the dump before close -- CURT class 3 trailer hitches offer the strength needed for serious towing. They make it easy to hitch up and Bring It, offering a vehicle-specific fit and the weight capacity to handle a variety of trailers. Custom class 3 hitches are the most common type of receiver hitch for pickup trucks and SUVs. Because of their weight range, they are also found on full-size cars, crossovers and minivans. Each custom class 3 hitch is made vehicle-specific. This particular model fits certain years of the Chevy Colorado, GMC Canyon, Isuzu i-280, i-290, i-350 and i-370 (see application info to verify vehicle compatibility). It provides a weight carrying capacity of 4,000 lbs. GTW and 400 lbs. TW. It is also compatible with a weight distribution hitch for level towing and a rating of 6,000 lbs. WD and 600 lbs. WDTW. CURT class 3 trailer hitches are typically used to tow utility trailers, boat trailers, campers, snowmobile or ATV haulers and more (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Each class 3 hitch has a 2" receiver tube and is tested in accordance with SAE J684 for safety. To ensure that CURT class 3 receiver hitches have what it takes for serious trailering, they are designed using a hands-on approach and are constructed with high-strength steel and precise welding. We also protect our class 3 hitches in a co-cured finish of liquid Bonderite and black powder coat for superior resistance to rust, chipping and UV damage. Plus, to give you the confidence to Bring It no matter what your next task is, all class 3 hitches are backed by a limited lifetime warranty.

Question From jj2476 on heater problem

2004 chevrolet colorado
when running the heater the blower motor only works on the high setting none of the other lower settings work what causes this and what will i have to do to remedy this!!!

thank you

Response From Tom Greenleaf

The most common cause for that is a blower motor resistor usually located near the blower motor (top of it or near) on the distribution box the blower is in,

Response From Tom Greenleaf Top Rated Answer

Forgive me for not knowing off the top of my head where it's located - either underhood on inside over passenger foot area behind where a typical glovebox would be IF the Blower is inside. Again - typical is a couple screws the wiring plug and it drops down in the case to reduce voltage for all but the HIGH fan speed,

arch from battery terminal truck won't do anything

Question From john80501 on arch from battery terminal truck won't do anything

Here goes,

I have a 2005 chevrolet colorado 3,5 ( 5 cyl) 205k miles.

I was resetting the computer by removing the battery cables. Well stupid me when I was going to reattach the cables, I had attached the positive but I got the negative cable too close to the positive terminal with cable attached. Small spark was from + to - cable, windshield wiper moved 6 inches and stopped. mega fuse (100amp) blew. I replaced the mega fuse and tried to start the vehicle. Nothing happens when I turn the key to start ( except my running lights turn on) any advice? What else to check, Did I blow the computer? Thank you John80501

Response From Hammer Time

What were you trying to do in the first place? There is no reason to try to reset a computer.

Response From Discretesignals Top Rated Answer

I got the negative cable too close to the positive terminal with cable attached.

I'm trying to picture how that was done.

You need to check all the fuses using a 12 volt test light or volt meter. If all fuses check good, then you need to see if you can even communicate with the PCM using a scan tool or code reader of some sorts.

Response From kev2

underhood fuse box- there* is a large (amp) maxi fuse.... lets hope thats what blew, let us know...

Chev colorado probs

Question From Guest on Chev colorado probs

Truck is 2004 Chevrolet Colorado single cab 2wd 5cyl.
Milage - 51,000
Oil always changed never done a tuneup. Getting tuneup done today

Here are the problems I am having:
1. Sometimes the truck seems to missfire. (when started ... sometimes it has a very low amount of power. Hardly staying running.
2. Sometimes the RR taillight doesnt work. Everytime I take it to a place to get it checked it works and they cant fix it.
3. When I have the A/C setting on 3 ... the A/C will die ... then when i turn it to 4 it will come back on. Sometimes a/c level 3 doesnt work at all.

Im tryin to figure out if i should get rid of the truck because i see some bad problems coming from all this or get some kind of repair insurance? Because I know a/c repairs are expensive. Thanks in advance for the help. Also I would maybe like to know what is wrong with all this? I like the truck alot but it seems buggy.

Response From Sidom Top Rated Answer

Chevy has a few problem areas. Fuel pumps with bad check valves causing extended cranking times & run problems on cold starts. a quick check for this is, if you know it's going to start hard in the morning, cycle the key from off to on without cranking about 4 times & see if that makes it start normal..

Rear circuit boards on tail lights causing no op or intermitten op. Check for power & ground, if all is good it's a bad board.

The a/c I'm a little unclear on..... They also have a problem with their control heads but if it's not the a/c system & just the blower, the problem could be somewhere else...........

It may sound like a lot but every car maker has it's list of pattern failures...........some more than others........

Question From comnavguy on 20008 Silverado p0121 now 0507

This is a 2008 Silverado with V8 5.4 L 128,667 miles. It failed inspection because of code 0121 Throttle Position Sensor. Replaced the sensor and now it is showing code 0507 idle out of specs and it idles up to 2500 RPM in neutral and park but once in gear drops back to normal with or without A/C on.

The book says that the idle air control valve is in the throttle body. We replaced the throtle body, and we still have the same problem.

Help. Help. Inspection is due.

This PI was superseded to update model years and add information concerning idle surge, reduced engine power mode, and/or DTCs P0068, P0121, P1516, P2101, P2119, and/or P2176 that may be experienced on high mileage vehicles. Please discard PIP4578.
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI. condition/concern:
As carbon builds up in the throttle body of a high mileage vehicle, the ECM/PCM learns to compensate by increasing the throttle plate angle.

If enough carbon builds up, an idle surge, deceleration surge, tip-in hesitation, reduced engine power mode, and/or DTCs P0068, P0121, P1516, P2101, P2119, and/or P2176 may be experienced on high mileage vehicles.

If the throttle body is cleaned without performing an "idle learn reset/reset idle learn" with the Tech 2, the ECM/PCM may continue to compensate for previous carbon build up, causing it to return with a similar concern as well as DTCs P0121, P0506, and/or *** * >> >>>P0507.<<<<

In a similar fashion, if the ECM/PCM of a high mileage vehicle is replaced and/or reprogrammed without performing the Throttle/Idle Learn outlined in SI, the ECM/PCM may no longer compensate for existing carbon build up in the throttle body, causing it to return with a similar concern as well as DTCs P0121, P0506, and/or P0507.

Recommendation/Instructions:
If SI diagnosis does not isolate the cause of this concern, inspect the throttle body bore and plate for obvious carbon build up.

If carbon is present, follow the Throttle Body Cleaning Procedure in SI to clean the throttle body.

After ensuring that the throttle body bore and plate are clean, perform an "idle learn reset/reset idle learn" with the Tech 2 and re-evaluate the concern.

Notice: Depending on the vehicle you are working on, the "idle learn reset/reset idle learn" is normally found on the Tech 2 ECM menu for Module Set Up or Special Functions/TAC System.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
GM bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, NOT a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform these technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions, and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, DO NOT assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See your GM dealer for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.

Response From comnavguy

the idle learn/reset re-learn procedure cured the problem. The TPS sensor was bad.

Thanks for the help guys.

Response From Discretesignals

Good find J!

Glad to read it was a simple case of relearn. Thanks for the follow up Closed as solved. Can be reopened upon request by the OP.

Response From Discretesignals

This has electronic throttle control. The throttle plate is opened and closed by a servo motor that the PCM controls which allows the PCM to control the idle speed.

Did you test the TPS before you changed it or are you a parts swapper? The P0121 doesn't necessarily mean the TPS is the fault. It is a TPS performance code that basically means the throttle position didn't correspond with the expected engine load and throttle position for more than a second. A MAP or engine performance issue could cause that code to appear.

Now you have another issue that you could have created. You need to look at TPS data to see if the PCM is commanding that high idle or if you have something such as a vacuum leak causing that.

A sometimes partsswapper. In this case, yes. I didn't know how to test the part and still don't. MAP is OK and no vacuum leaks.

We did not have the idle problem until we replaced the TPS. The truck was running smoothly. Can you explain that? Why would replacing the TPS cause idle to go haywire?

Without seeing some scan tool data or even some test data, your guess is good as mine.
