buick lacrosse headlights shut off periodically

Question From tfrissen on buick lacrosse headlights shut off periodically

My 2005 Buick LaCrosse headlights go off when travelling at night. The brights and the fog lights will work but not the low beam. This has happened 3 times over the last 3 months.

Response From Hammer Time Top Rated Answer

It would really need to be tested during the failure to confirm it but it sounds like a bad Combination (Dimmer) switch in the steering column.

2011 Buick Lacrosse Auto climate doesn't work?

Question From bjcarr on 2011 Buick Lacrosse Auto climate doesn't work?

2011 Buick Lacrosse:

Can some tell me how to interpret this feature:

From page 2-9 of the 2011 Buick LaCrosse owner’s manual: “Vehicles with an automatic climate control system will default to a heating or cooling mode depending on the outside temperature during a remote start. When the key is turned to ON/RUN (Key Access), or the ON/RUN/START ignition position is selected (Keyless Access), the climate control system will turn on at the setting the vehicle was last turned off.”

The dealership told me my interpretation of this feature is incorrect. I believe this feature is pretty clear...let me know what you think...thanks!

Response From Hammer Time Top Rated Answer

I don't have the manual in front of me but from what you posted it sound like when you use remote start will default to either hot of cold but if started manually, it will honor the current settings.

2007 buick lacrosse, lost all power. Ignition click, hot battery, key stuck

Question From chilliscale on 2007 buick lacrosse, lost all power. Ignition click, hot battery, key stuck

I have a 2007 Buick lacrosse, 3.6 v6
140,000 miles.
Car started, backed up and car started making a loud knocking noise, not from engine compartment. Put car in park and shut off. Kept on knocking. Now key will not come out of ignition and negative battery terminal is hot. There is no power to the car. Can't even begin to know where to look for the problem
Thanks
Jake

Response From nickwarner

I would say your best bet is to unhook the battery and get this towed. This car isn't DIY friendly and electrical issues need a trained eye to not mess up something even bigger. Wish I had a better answer, but I'd tow this one in.

Response From chilliscale Top Rated Answer

I put the battery on a charger overnight. It now has power and I was able to get the keys out and windows rolled up. When I try to turn the key it makes a very faint tapping noise. Atleast I can get it in gear instead of dragging it out of the driveway on a tow truck.

Response From nickwarner

Lacrosse and Lucern are apples and oranges. My mom has the same year Lucerne and it has been headache free. But time will tell.

Response From chilliscale

Thanks guys. That's was I was afraid of. We just redid head gaskets about a month ago but this is beyond my reach. I couldn't even find a possible cause by searching the internet. Just bought an 06 buick lucurne prior to all these problems, kinda worried about the future of that one now

Response From Tom Greenleaf

Just to add: Sure seems battery shorted itself or to something. Noise AFTER it was shut off! Just be careful and unhook neg of that battery making sure any odors are NOT present and just leave it unhooked.

Noise and a hot battery from any cause has caused problems. Just don't make it worse,

Engine Code P0102

Question From TGMcCallie on Engine Code P0102

Buick LaCrosse 99 model with 75,000 actual miles 6 cylinder engine

Check engine light comes on. Ran code check and it says P0102 MAF or VAF A Circuit Low Input.

Is this caused by a sensor and if not is there something that I can do to correct the problem?

Thanks

Response From Hammer Time

Are you using a K&N filter?

Response From TGMcCallie Top Rated Answer

What filter are you talking about? Air Filter or what? If it is air filter, I am using a Fram air filter.

Response From Sidom

Yes he was referring to the air filter. Oil base air filters are one cause of ruining MAF sensors.....

There are a few things that can cause this problem, a defective sensor being one of them...

Some thing quick an easy would be to get a can of MAF sensor cleaner ( I believe CRC makes it, in a grey can) and clean the sensing wire inside the sensor and clear the code. If the codes comes back then power, ground & signal wires would need to be checked as well as grams per second while running to verify the sensor is accurately reporting air flow..

Also makes sure all air tubes & lines are hooked up and secure with no leaks.....

Lacrosse electronics go crazy after battery recharge.

Question From JimboJim on Lacrosse electronics go crazy after battery recharge.

2009 Buick Lacrosse CXL 3.8L

The car was left for a couple weeks and died. I have a portable jump battery system. I hooked that up to it and electronics turn on like normal now when I open door, insert key. But then when I try to actually start the car it's like it goes crazy: electronics pulsate, the horn even goes off. Any idea what is happening?

Response From Tom Greenleaf

You've probably set off a security/alarm system by letting it go dead which is like disconnecting the battery. Betcha. Hope that's it and you have the info to reset it somewhere,

T

Response From JimboJim

I thought that and tried doing some research into that, but didn't get anywhere. Any idea where I'd look to figure out how to reset?

Response From Hammer Time Top Rated Answer

Remove the battery and have it charged and tested. It sounds like either the booster pack doesn't have enough power or it's not connecting 100%.
