Question From sarah23 on Code For a Radio In A Shelly BMW 325I

Hey There!!

My Boyfriend is having problems trying to access the code for his radio. The model and brand of the car is a Shelly BMW 325I. If anybody out there knows the code or can tell us how to access one that would be mostly appreciated!!
Thanks!!

Response From carjunky Top Rated Answer

You will need to get the serial number from the radio and take it to a bmw service dealer. they may need to see the vehicle to make sure the radio wasn't stolen.

ZF 6hp19 for BMW 325i, 2006

Question From tony2000 on ZF 6hp19 for BMW 325i, 2006

I'm looking for a remanufactured ZF transmission. Has anybody an idea which is the best distribuitor in the US via internet? With a adequate quality, warranty and price level.

Response From Mr.scotty

Have you checked your local junkyards for a good low mile used unit?
That's what i would do if i was you.

Response From tony2000 Top Rated Answer

Yes I did it, but I really want to have a good remanufactured one and no junk...

Response From Tom Greenleaf

tony2000: What's the scoop? It's a BMW and if you want quality but cheap that's an oxymoron. If you can't take the heat than get out of the BMW kitchen.

An original has a better chance of lasting than a reman/rebuilt one IMO and many salvage yards if lower price is a must will have fully checked out the cars that come in and why. I'm done with biz but would go check out whole cars and what happened in person if possible or read the info sheet on parts already pulled out and inventoried.

If you find a rebuilt one they will want yours back or charge probably a serious charge if yours can't be fixed/rebuilt for some reason called a "core" charge.

How much have you been told if so for fixing yours? Warranty for on-line purchases - ha! Good luck with that is all they would need to say is you or your tech messed up putting it in and that would end it...........

Question From Guest on Looking for Tom. SRS light on

I seen you posted on another thread about a BMW 325i srs light on. You told that person to email you, I looked for your email and could not find it anywhere. My BMW 325i's battery died we jumped it took it for a drive and the SRS light came on. Can you tell me why it is on?

Thanks in advance

Response From way2old

Don't know about Beemers, but Ford will trip a light if the battery voltage drops below a preset voltage.

Response From Guest Top Rated Answer

I found a service bulletin on BMW airbags. I could not get any info on the problem but the TSB # is
72 04 98. May be worth looking into. Good luck.

Response From Tom Greenleaf

I'm here! Not good with that problem sorry. It should mean that air bags are disabled for now and could be just a fuse but that's a wild guess.

Any ideas folks here??

My email address is available here but pointless as thousands of good folks will see your question here and only I will see it at home address.

I think you can just click on my name and get just me but again not the best to fix a problem, T

Need radio code for 1992 BMW 325i

Question From CJ8140089 on Need radio code for 1992 BMW 325i

  • I recently replaced the battery on my 1992 BMW 325i and now it is asking for a code for the radio to work. i have looked through all of my papers for some sort of code to input into the radio however i still cannot find one. i also bought it from a private seller in 1998 so im not sure how to go about tracking the code down. and the nearest BMW dealer happens to be almost 100 miles away. Any ideas for how to get the code?

  • Response From Tom Greenleaf Top Rated Answer

There have been several posts about this problem with BMWs. If you don't have the code you may be able to get it over the phone with your VIN and some way of prooving you own the car from the BMW dealer. In the future use a thing called a battery saver set up when disconnecting a battery. Not to be nasty but I wouldn't own a stereo that did that. Rubbish food and get an aftermarket that won't do that. T

BMW 325i died in traffic, wouldn't start again

Question From poppy2 on BMW 325i died in traffic, wouldn't start again

    Hi,

I am trying to figure out what is going on w/ my car. 2003 BMW 325i. It just died in traffic yesterday with zero warning. I just had the alternator replaced 3 weeks ago. When I tried to restart, there was NO response at all. Didn't turn over, no clicks nothing - just dead. I had it towed to a repair shop, now today I am told it is starting (and re-starting) fine.

What could possibly cause this problem? My two ideas are, bad replacement alternator (it was used)... or dirty fuel filter (but that wouldn't explain NO response when trying to start - I figure if it was a dirty fuel filter, then at least it would attempt to turn over?)

Or something else altogher - a bad fuse? Bad wiring?

I am happy that's it working now, but makes me nervous for the future.

    HELP!

    Response From chickenhouse

Well, you could take the alt. off and have it tested just to make sure it's ok, some parts houses check these for free. Could also check battery cables to make sure they are clean and also the ground connections. A place to start.

    Response From poppy2

    Hi chickenhouse,

Thanks for the response. Will do as you suggest.

I have a question... does the battery need to be working WHILE the car is already running? Just trying to understand why a car would die out of the blue for no apparent reason. Like, if the battery is bad or if the cable connection is corroded, could that actually cause a car to stop dead in it's tracks??? (even if it was running fine JUST before that?)

    Thanks

Response From Hammer Time Top Rated Answer

The car needs voltage to run. It can get that from either the alternator or the battery but if the alternator fails while your driving it, the battery will eventually follow and the car will die.

    Response From chickenhouse

Some of the older cars, a battery cable could be taken off while the engine was running, but I don't think I'd try that on a beemer. They have different ideas concerning wiring.
