Question From jonhuston on 2006 Chrysler 300 Touring Intermiten problem enginge sometimse shuts off

This 06 300 occasionally shuts off when at running temp. checked enhanced DTCs and found DTC P2138 throttle sensor critical voltage. Another thing i have noticed is that there is no significant change in rpms when A/C compressor is turned on/off or when brake petal is depressed, is that normal or related Thank you

Response From Hammer Time

Pretty hard to tell you anything without an engine size.

Engine computer knows that your requesting the ac and/or pressing on the brake and is able to anticipate the load that is going to be put on the engine. That is why you don't see much of a change in rpm.

P2138 means there is a correlation fault between the two pedal position sensors at the accelerator pedal. I don't know if that would cause the PCM to turn off the engine, but it would probably limit throttle control. You need a high end scan tool to interface the PCM and look at the datastream information for the APP1 and APP2 sensor.

Alarm 1996 Town and Country

Question From Tedchevy69 on Alarm 1996 Town and Country

I"m Looking at a 1996 Chrysler Town and country LXI. The alarm will not turn off, factory, so I puleed the memory fuse and now it blows horn when key is switched to on position. Power locks do not work and I believe alarm is activated key. Should I look for problem in drivers side door, also window doesn't work and I banged door panel and got it to work before alarm went haywired. Please let me know if this is common and hopefully the fix.. I'm new here and look foward to sharing my chevy experience with whoever can use it. Thankyou, Ted...

Here's how that system works
Your really going to need a factory scan tool to diagnose it.

Vehicles equipped with the Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS) system, the doors, liftgate, hood and ignition circuit are monitored by the Body Control Module (BCM) when the system is armed. The VTSS will prevent the engine from starting until the BCM receives a disarm signal. If the VTSS is triggered, the horn will pulse, headlamps/marker lamps will flash, and the VTSS warning lamp will flash. If BCM determines the threat to be false and the VTSS is not triggered again, the system will shut down and rearm itself after three minutes . The VTSS monitoring portion of the system is split into two sections. The engine compartment section and the passenger compartment section. If a malfunction occurs in the engine compartment section, the passenger compartment section would still arm and function normally If an electrical malfunction occurs in either section of the system a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) would be stored the BCM memory to aid system repair. DTC's can be retrieved using scan tool (DRB)attached to the diagnostic connector above the accelerator pedal.

Hey your advice was real helpful. I did have to go into drivers door to fix wiring problem with lock and window service but it all worked out great... Thankyou for your solid advice. Ted
