Tom’s right on the money, call you’re local dearer with the VIN number, mileage and if you still have it the in service date. That’s the date the truck was originally delivered to the customer. It will only take then a minute or so to tell you if it’s covered.

Dan - Awesome info!!!!!! I wouldn't have known all that except I replaced one on my Mother's car (whole motor) before the recall and she got re-imbursed! I did the papers back then.

I've been in the trade since 1976 and ran my own shop since 1982.

If you are trying to make a worn clutch grab harder there is no adjustment for that. Any adjustment was for specific amount of free play only on linkage that did have adjustment.
If you replaced a hydraulic component it needs to be bled like a brake. Gravity is usually enough.

My tail lights and dash lights failed. Fuses okay. I have brake and turn but no running lights in the back. My Repair man said I should get a schimatic! I checked chilton and they have nothinglisted. Help! Can where do I get this with out buying a whole book?

I'm guessing that the front running lights work from your post.
If so that should rule out the + side (fused power) and that you probably have a ground problem. Tricky one here. You can use jumper wire or jumper cables to connect known ground to the back (body) as a test. There and with jumper wire to what should be ground at dash.
I'm just guessing here but I'd also take a look at the possible trailer wiring that comes with many of these vehs. See if it's all corroded or something just to rule that out. If unused it's tied up at the back bumper.
I'm a little confused with this one - but please post back what fixed it so we know for any similar case, Good luck, Tom Greenleaf

does anyone have the schematics on how to take out the digital instrument panel so it can be replaced? and do any of you have one to fit this vehicle? I'm also looking for diagrams on vacuum, electrical, and fuel injection. I have a Jimmy that is coughing, bucking and puucking then other times is goes down the road as smooth as a new one.

A place local to me in Massachusetts, may have the dash part for you.
Rich's Auto Parts Inc. 1-800-541-0280 ask for John Dunbar and say I sent you. I'm sure they can ship parts. If they don't have it they are well connected to other used yards around the world. I thought it was something with the trailer connector! I did not check the ground, only for power. I checked a couple of chilton books. but none had anything about wireing.
I already replaced the wiper control board.
Will look into the motor! Thanks guys!

Does anyone know how to fix the instrument
cluster on this truck without dropping down $300
or more at the dealership? Here's my problem: the
oddemoter on this cluster is digital.It records
the milege but there are periods when the light
itself is completely off. It's on for a week and
then it's off another. I've taken the cluster out
of the dashboard but have no clue what to do next
with it. Let me know if I have to actually mess
with the circut board. What a nightmare!

You all mentioned the windshield wiper problem, and mine has the problems mentioned in the recall, but my truck was not recalled. Should i replace the circuit board myself or could i get someone to fix the existing board? if i buy another board, would it be okay to get a used part or does it need to be new? where's the best & cheapest part?

The wiper on the rear window of my 1998 Olds Bravada works very slow "With help" when on the fast mode and doesn't work at all on the slow setting. Is there a Manufacture Notice about this motor, any reason for this to function this way or is this a motor just going bad?

sitting in my drive way, not running and had not been

Ive been having problems with my front wipers stopping at any giving time and even continuing to swipe long after I turn them off, it seems these trucks are known for this particular problem, if I tap the small black circuit box attached to the wiper motor, the wipers will react, meaning start swiping after they stop, is there a web sight I can purchase a new curcuit board or do I have to go through the dealer, any advise is appreciated greatly......thanks.

Just like Janet, I have had similar problems with my wipers working and then not. It doesn't matter if the switch is on or off they work when ever they feel like it. More than once, I have been caught in a storm without the use of my wipers. I need assistance. Do I replace the circuit board or attempt to get a dealership to fix it?

Replaced upper ball joints on front end 6 months ago and boots tore already. I think I over-tightened the castle nut. Anybody know the torque specs or just give me an idea what went wrong?

My 96 Chevy PU started running 2000 rpm when at idle. Mechanic said I needed to change throttle sensor. This did not correct problem. Took it to another mechanic and he said it was throttle sensor and I explained that it was resently replaced. Said that sometimes new ones do not always work. After second replacement, I still have the problem.

I drove my car and then left the interior lights on overnight. The next morning my car seemed like it had a dead battery, I replaced the battery (the battery place tested the old battery and said it was completely dead). Now it sounds like it wants to start but it just won't catch and the more I try the weaker the start. When I try again a day or two later it is the same strong almost start to a weaker start. I am on a budget because I am in college. Does anyone have any ideas about a cheap fix?

All 4 dash lamps in the IP AC controller burned out. Is there a
replacement bulb available with the push & turn socket for
these? All four are wired, daisey chained together and the bulbs
are locked in the sockets.

Shows all the signs of not getting a reading from the crank position sensor. (Will run for a second then shut off fuel deliver do to no sensor reading) However a 1994 blazer dosen't posses a crank position sensor, does anyone know what sensor compensates for it function

I'm trying to remove the starter. I have the two bottom bolts on the rear of the starter out. I also have the bolt from the front bracket to the block out. I have the small inspection plate out, I have not undone any of the wireing there is enough slack in the wireing but I can't seem to get the starter all the way out from the bell housing to drop it down and out.

Does anyone know why this truck will not start when it is cold? Once it has been running, it runs fine. However, to get it started initially you have to spray carb cleaner or similar into the throttle body. Have not noticed this problem during the warmer months. Does it have to do with a sensor?

Does anyone know where the fuel reset button is. I have all good indications but the fuel pump is not activation. According to a friend, he suggest resetting the fuel pump prior to any repair job. My owners manual does not indicate such a divice. Can any one help...CJ

Does anyone know where the fuel reset button is. I have all good indications but the fuel pump is not activation. According to a friend, he suggest resetting the fuel pump prior to any repair job. My owners manual does not indicate such a divice. Can any one help...CJ

MY PROBLEM IS I'M BLOWING 40AMP ING. FUSES ING. A SIDE FUSE WHEN IT BLOWS AND YOU REPLACE THE FUSE IT BLOWS AGAIN, LAST TIME I TOOK THE FUSES OUT AND MOVED THE GEARSHIFTER FROM PARK TO L1 THREE OR FOR TIMES PUT THE FUSES BACK IN AND IT STARTED. Does anyone know how to remove the lower rear quarter panels on my S10 Blazer? I'm talking about the plastic panels that are on the bottom below the rear lights. I can't figure out how to get access to the top four bolts that are holding the panel on. Specifically, how to access the area to get a back-up wrench on the bolt head. Any help would be appreciated.

A couple days ago I noticed that when my night time lights come on, the dash board lights go out. Radio light, temp & direction light, and other dash board lights. When I turn the truck off and turn the key to take it out of ignition, the radio light comes on.
When I pull out of the parking garage and the day time lights come on, everything goes back to normal.
Any idea?
I should also mention that my ABS warning light has been on for some time. But I was told something needs to be greased to solve that problem.

Well recently, 170,000 miles on it the latch stopped catching in the hatch back and I can't get the back open now. Blower quit working first, new switch board from mechanic and now my headlamps don't work. Running lamps and daylamps work but no hi/lo headlamps. Mechanic wants an additional $400 to fix, I'm skeptical since blower still doesn't work. Any hints or suggestions helpful.

I'm having a problem w/fuel pump. 1st thing I did was replace it, that did'nt fix it. I checked the wires to the pump and I have no voltage back there. I then checked the fuse again and again, its good. does anyone know if there is a circut breaker or a relay???? and where I might find it??? I live in a small town the library was no help, and we have one parts store that was no good as well..I'm at my witts end I need some guidance..thanks

My gas pedal seems to be hard when I step on it. I greased the spring and even took off the pedal. I bought the truck used, could it be the wrong gas cable or am I missing a spring? PLease help. 5.7 350
