Subject: 1991 Jeep Wranger - how to get at the horn
IP: Logged

Message:
Not too long ago, I was driving on really choppy road, and something came loose on the horn in the steering column. Sounds like a screw or something rattling around in there. I unplugged the horn (under the hood) to keep it from honking when I turned the steering wheel.

Problem is, I can't figure out how to get horn cap off the steering column to put the screw (or whatever little thing is rattling around) back in place. I'm afraid to pry it any harder --- prying might not be the best way to get it off. Help?

You need a steering wheel puller to even look at the spring loaded connection for the horn. It might just be under a simple cover but I think you'll need to take the wheel off. The center bolt should have a mark to line it up again for re-assembly. Set the wheel straigh ahead and put it back on in the same or wheel can be off center. Good luck, Tom Greenleaf
