Message: There are a couple of different diagrams for this car, it depends on whether you have fog lights or not. The diagrams a complicated enough without giving you the wrong one, LOL

Message: your problem will be traced down to a wire going through the fire wall...cavaliers are bad for this problem.....but first check your headlight switch on your steering colum see if you are getting power out of it for the low beam side...

Message: I am having the same problem.
A week ago I had a daytime running light warning light on. 2 days ago my passenger side low beam light failed. I did not realise the high beam and daytime running light bulbs are one of the same.
I did have a failed high beam bulb which has been replaced. I also replaced the low beam bulb. I have swapped the 15A fuses between the left and right side headlights. I also put a voltmeter right on the fuse contacts and there is definitely no power.
I spent the last hour trying to see if I can pull out the door side fuse panel but that puppy is not an easy thing to remove.
The next thing I started looking at is a main junction box about 6 inches inside the engine compartment (where the cable runs between engine and passenger compartment)....but that is another hard to get at area.
DanD can you please also send me the wiring diagrams? I do not have fog lights. And why is it whenever anything fails on my car.....it is always something which I can never easily reach?

Message: I just found the wiring diagrams for a corvette......and your right....if the cavalier is anything comparable...they will be very complicated.
Shawn, the wire going through the firewall....is the break normally right at the firewall or at a random spot inside the engine compartment?

Message: Alright.......I have had some minor success.
Through some fiddling and what I like to call "TLC", I was able to remove the door fuse box. There was one clasp to push (on the face) and although it took me a while, I rotated it then pushed it out towards the door. There was no way to remove it from the bootom. I did a bunch more voltage testing and wire fiddling and I now see 12 volts at the fuse box (making sure I turned the headlights on for my test).
I then thought I was home free. I tested low and high beam voltage at the lamp connectors and I saw 12 volts on each adapter as i switched from HI to LO. I then placed the berand new bulbs in and......no lights! I am now checking my bulbs....perhaps the new ones I bought (9005 and 9006) are both bad????
Any ideas? Did I mention how much I hate cars? *laffing*

Message: i have the same problem on my 02 and have gone through 4 headlight switches. on all the forums i've looked at everyone references the headlight harnesses going bad in the engine compartment below the battery box and near the windshield wiper fluid resevoir. the wires get really corroded there and most people find after replacing or fixing the wiring there the problems are fixed. I think this is where we all want to start looking.

Message: I have a 99 cavalier and it seems that I have experienced a failure of my high beams. Is it possible that the high beam indicator light bulb on the instrument panel is at fault for this, or is the indicator bulb on a different electrical system? Time for an overhaul!!

Message: I need help in finding some type of diagram in order to change my t-stat. Can some one help me please?
I recently changed the fan motor, thinking that this was the reason my car has been running hot, however, now that it is replaced I continue to face the same problem.
I was told that the t-stat would most likely solve my problem, but I have never done this before and am trying to find a diagram or step by step to get me through. Thanks

Message: There is a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) regarding wiring connections in the headlamp circuit on 95(?) and up Cavaliers. GM (in their infinite wisdom) thought it would be adequate to join wires in the headlamp circuit by simply wrapping some electrical tape around a soldered connection. Electrical tape to seal wiring connections = severe corrosion issues. Check the wiring by removing the LF headlamp assembly and checking the wiring loom and those pesky little crappy ass connections. (For those unfamilliar with wiring, please take to local garage and have them check the the loom where it passes through the frame behind the LF headlamp) Please don't attempt this if you won't repair this properly using heat shrink and proper connectors because you'll just make it worse!!!
HAVE FUN AND MAYBE TRY TAKING YOUR CAR TO A MECHANIC TO GET IT FIXED RIGHT, IT KEEPS ME FED!! LOL.....Seriously, get someone who knows what they're doing to do it or help you....wiring can be fun!
