Dear Sir/Madam

I am a sixth form student at Horowhenua College. As part of my NCEA level 1 English course, I am doing a research assignment on the Mazda RX7.

Could you please supply me with any information. In particular I would like to find out:

1. What are the characteristics of this cars engine that make it stand out from others?
2. What changes have been made in body design over the years and how does this affect speed and performance?
3. Why has this car become a racing and collectors icon?

I would be very grateful of any assistance you can give me with this topic or any other information you may have on the topic.

Yours faithfully

Jason Clarke

If you are talking about the "Rotary" Wankel engine - it's claim to fame was tons of horsepower with much less room and weight. Invented by Ferdnand Wankel, bought by Mazda, sold to GM for 4.3 Billion and never used by GM as it was a gas hog and tough to control emissions. Rotor apex seals were a problem especially with early ones, which didn't last in automobiles very long. I believe this engine was used in air craft for a while too. Hope that added something to your inquiry, Tom Greenleaf
