I have a 98 Chevy S-10 4 cyld 2wheel drive automatic with 105K on it. I have problem with the transmission. After driving a while, I notice I get a hard shift from 1st to 2nd and I heavy transmission fluid smell after I stop and get out. Nothing leaking though. I've had the fluid changed twice thinking it might be a clogged filter. I did have fluid foaming out of the vent on top of the bell housing at one time but, I changed fluid and that has not happened since then. The lines to the cooler seem to be clear and moving fluid. Any ideas? Any way to determine if fluid is moving through cooler? I've been reading some info about a "lazy/slow" fluid pump. Any ideas on costs if it is the pump?
