Message: pep boys said my caliper (front left ) is seized.
I said just replace the one caliper, and they said they have to do both. is this accurate? doesn't make sense to me. Just replace one right?

Message: In general it's recommended to do both. They usually get frozen from rust/corrosion and if one did the other probably will too.
You can be tricked about a frozen/seized caliper by a faulty flex hose. Are you doing the repair or does Pep Boys do this work? Don't have that chain real near to where I am. Good luck, Tom

Message: At the dealership where i work sometimes all it takes to remedy seized calipers is a little bit of silicone grease on the caliper slide pins. Also check for rust and corrosion on the slide pins as well.

Message: Hi - That problem was pre diagnosed and I added just one idea, yours is wicked important in a good brake job. There are no "Pep Beys" near me and I didn't know if they worked on cars or just a parts person told a customer what was needed.
You work at a dealer and no doubt have excellent parts support. The chain stores don't always even check if the staff knows diddle about mechanicals. That's fine, if the customer knows what they want. Be well, Tom Greenleaf
