I have a 1990 Pontiac 6000 and I am having problems installng the starter. when I install it the car still will not start can someone tell me the proper step by step instructions on how to install it.

I need to know the wiring sequence on the starter for my 1997 pontiac grand am se 2.4l. I have the starter but i think im hooking the wires up wrong and i cant get the car started?

If you make sure you have both the power cables attached( one from battery, one to power inside) and the (actuator?) wire in the right place it will start, or at least try. if you have power inside then check the small or control wire to starter.
